Deep within an uncharted jungle, far from anything mapped or known, an explorer walks cautiously between colossal, twisted plants. Vines pulse faintly. Leaves shimmer like alien skin.
Speaking into his watch, he mutters: “Jungle seems strange, but... harmless.”
Behind him, something stirs. A massive plant, still as stone just moments ago, awakens. Only silence. The explorer doesn't notice. He's still focused on his report, eyes down. Then chomp.
The plant latches onto the back of his skull. It’s not painful. Just… gooey. Warm. Slippery. He jerks, but he can’t move. Muscles frozen. The jungle spins. He tries to speak. No sound.
Inside, something’s happening. Something invasive. He can't feel pain—but he can feel loss. A strange emptiness. His thoughts scatter.
The plant begins its true purpose:
Feeding. Extracting. Replacing.
Within moments, his brain is no longer inside him.
The jungle doesn't like wasting bodies. A seed drops gently into the hollowed skull. Soon, it will bloom.
A new drone takes its first breath.
