Korra Season 4 Episode 10 Reaction (Extended)

When Prince Wu uncovers the meaning of life

Korra Season 4 Episode 10 Reaction (Extended)

Comments

there's a theory that toph can lava bend. When she was first revealed, she was stirring a pot over what looked like molten rocks. Because she is blind, it wouldn't be safe for her to light a fire she can't see. so it would make sense that she lava bends to cook her food (she can still sense lava because it's earth)

Juan

Su-Yin might not be the strongest fighter in the Avatar Universe, but damn do I love every fight scene she is in. Her quick thinking and creative use of metal bending for defense and offense are something special. The way she put up the metal sheet as a shield and then instantly turns it into armor (Which might not be the best idea against a metal bender like Kuvira.) Simply amazing.

Zach Lenstch

Not sure if you know but Robin William’s daughter is the voice actor for Kuvira

Ro Cort

Fun thing about Bolin, his reactions to fan favorites from ATLA is basically a representation of the fandom when they see them😄 First Korra back in season 1, then him freaking out when he sees Zuko and now Toph 😄 love the guy P.S. When Toph herself tells you that you are stinky, you done messed up😆

FlatOutBoy

Thanks :D And yeah Wu is on to something lol

Alex G

LOL that's amazing

Alex G

It's one of my favorite fights in the entire show, especially as a Toph lover. Their coordination and power, the Beifong Fam is not one to be trifled with.

SupremeCai

I LOVE THIS LOL

SupremeCai

That "everything for the ladies" moment of yours made me choke on my drink LOL I love the slight memey edits. Can't wait for FMAB and everything after, the Atla/Korra journey with you has been amazing. One of my favorite reactors :) <3

SupremeCai

I just love how it's such a subtle progression from Toph metal armor and Aangs rock armor (which I'm sure Toph taught him)

Raysa Fonseca

this meme was made shortly after the episode premiered and I love it very much https://youtu.be/lVyGC6O_Ck8

Agree 100%. The heroes have their struggles and that's relatable to me. And the villains also have ways in which they are sympathetic. That's what elevates the show beyond the norm

Alex G

That's an interesting thought. There's this idea I've heard before that some characters have a "flat arc," meaning they already have qualities that are great and don't need to change much. I've heard this most in reference to Goku from Dragon Ball. think there's beauty to that too. I take a lot of inspiration from Toph's inner strength and her talent. And that idea aside, I think there are some ways that she seems to have grown in some ways while also retaining her core spirit.

Alex G

Thanks :) I'll keep an eye out

Alex G

One of my favorite things that this show does so well, is making the heroes. . . human. A criticism I got from a friend who didn't like the show, was that he was really didn't like the idea that Aang wasn't a great father; but that's something I really like. Sure, these characters have incredible power, and did great things, but they're human and imperfect like anyone else, and life is messy. Aang was raised in a monastery until he was 12, and from then on had no real parental figures for the rest of his life, so he didn't exactly have anything to really work with as an example. He also had to shoulder insanely heavy burdens, even as a child. That sort of thing doesn't come without its price. A very similar thing could be said for Toph, except that her upbringing caused her to be borderline negligent of her children as a way of overcompensation. Either way, I love that all these characters are pretty equally great and flawed (the villains as well). Other notes: - Bolin's lack of ability to read social situations well combined with his huge heart is endearing, but honestly makes me cringe sometimes - The Beifong sisters are BADASS -Zhu Li is super awesome

Back toward the end of ATLA, a lot of people lamented the fact that Toph never really got much of a story arc. She grew a little bit as a person, but she definitely got shorted compared to Katara, Sokka, and even Azula. This episode retroactively makes me feel better about all the Toph story we never got. After all, not everyone's biggest chapters in life happen when they're teenagers.

Rachel Espiritu

Ur reaction to Toph showing up was the best Alex XD also the spirit who was like "the answer is no" remember him for later o.o also also its getting close to Varrick and Zhu li doing the thing! \o/

Brimmy

I feel the same way. I believe in Season 2 Vaatu stated that he broke the barrier between the Human and Spirit worlds in the first place. Apparently, they had no problem taking over the entire earth and forcing humanity onto the Lion Turtles for protection or inhabiting Republic City in the present day. hey just don't want to actually take responsibility. It really makes them come across as flaky and arrogant. I haven't read the Korra comics yet but I'm hoping they address that.

KJ Gaona

It's a great scene 😁 Definitely delivered on the name Operation Beifong

Alex G

Thanks :) And yeah, I think the letting go theme is something these shows do really well. As Korra said or implied after her interaction with Zaheer, you don't forget but you learn to move past it instead of holding on to old wounds.

Alex G

Ah I see. It would be cool to see that in action

Alex G

Yes! And not twins but Bolin and Mako are great together as well. Lots of good sibling team ups.

Alex G

I love that after coming in and wrecking everything, Toph makes sure to leave with an insult to Kuvira's metal bending

Alex G

There are no good and bad spirits, but a lot of hypocritical ones

Alex G

Awesome

Alex G

Ngl i go a little bit feral every time I watch that Beifong family fight, the way that different family members co-ordinated and supported each others moves and of course the standout Su vs Kuvira one on one

malikparah

I have heard it and it seems reasonable :)

Alex G

I was looking forward to your reaction to this episode so much. And you didn’t disappoint! I knew you would be ecstatic when Toph showed up. And I loved Prince Wu’s comment about the ladies, cause there is definitely an element of truth there. But I really appreciate what you said about letting things go from the past. I think that was one of the most healing lessons I have learned in my life. And I was lucky enough to learn it fairly early. It doesn’t mean that you have to necessarily forgive people. Although that’s always a possibility too. It’s kind of like Katara and the Southern Raiders episode. When you hold on to things it ends up being more toxic for yourself more than anything.

Blackeyedlily

Such a great reaction and episode haha. Something to mention that was confirmed by the creators themselves about Kuvira... her strength and skill levels are actually ON PAR with Toph... IN HER PRIME. We never got to see toph in her prime but that tells you Kuvira isn't just some lucky amateur. Shes a force to be reckoned with. Cant wait for tomorrow's episode!

I can never seem to get enough of the twin fights in this series with eska and desna and wei and wing I love watching them bend in unison it’s epic

DrowsyCody

— Korra: Don't you see? You're doing exactly what Amon says is wrong with benders. You're using your power to oppress and intimidate people. — Tarrlok: And you don't? — Korra: Of-Of course not! — Tarrlok: Isn't that what you came here to do? Intimidate me into releasing your friends. See, that's what I admire about you, Korra. Your willingness to go to extremes in order to get what you want. It is a quality we both share. — Korra: You and I are nothing alike!

Calvin Brindley

This is why I said this was one of my favorite episodes. Su came out SWINGING! The fight scene alone was great for me but to also see the Beifongs team and work together was great. And I like that Toph and Lin were able to take a step forward in their relationship. And to see how Toph interacts with her family was just a little icing on the cake, hehe. And seeing Toph call out Kuvira too. Can’t wait for the next couple of episodes.

jassihere

I actually think the spirits are entirely full of it. They lay claim to physical parts of the world or inhabit it - but they wont defend anything because there is also a human faction /on their side/??? Spirits don't seem to mind wrecking shit when it's just them vs humans, lol.

Drake Chuckle

It’s gonna take a while for that to happen. They discuss that in the first korra comic and I can’t say anything else cause I’ll be spoiling the finale hehe

hays collins

A fun fact 😤 when this episode originally aired, the two week notice of Kuvira’s attack coincided with how far away the finale was, so it really felt like Kuvira would be attacking in two weeks.

Andrew

i think bolin can lava bend because he had both a fire bender and earth bender parent

carter joens

Dont know if you heard the fan theory that Su Yin is Sokkas daughter. She has a darker skin tone and Batar Jr looks exactly like adult Sokka and Su collects metorites and Sokka had a metorite sword sooo alot of people belive that she is his daughter. But Im conflicted because i ship both sokka and suki and adult sokka and toph sooooo yeah theres a confliction there

hays collins

Haha yeah that was one of the best moments of that fight

Alex G

That was a very poignant face slap

Alex G

from those few seconds an entire universe of fan work of Bolin x Wei bromance was born

DrowsyCody

Right, speaking of Avatars inheriting legacies of the past. Hopefully there's some progress being made at the same time

Alex G

That fight between Kuvira and Su was amazing the way she bent the metal armor around her AMAZING

hays collins

That's enough to get him in the top tier for me

Alex G

With the portals being open I honestly think the next avatar is gonna have to deal with ALOT of human and spirit conflicts. The cycle of balance has returned to be like Yangchen. The next avatar will have to choose and balance who he sides with in these conflicts. And once again a avatar will have to base his or her life on the previous avatars actions when Korra kept the portals open. LOVE THIS SHOW ITS SO DEEP

hays collins

Bolin is the only person in the Avatar universe who's managed to survive the combined power of four Beifong glares.

newairnation

lol that got me

Alex G

😁

Alex G

Wu with the wisdom. Everything we do is for the ladies 😅
