Premium Episode 174: Diggin' For Dugin with Liv Agar

We explore Aleksandr Dugin, the Russian philosopher who always seems to find a place in Russian politics โ€” even before the USSR fell. From underground punk in Moscow, to co-founder of the Nazbol party, to Eurasian traditionalist and supposed "brain" behind Putin, we chart the man's path through the ages.

Had to listen again today after seeing the news ๐Ÿซข

Anna Boarini

Best all Liv episode in a while, thanks for the hard work on this.

TBF, it isnโ€™t *just* Russian propaganda. You could do a whole โ€˜nother episode on Ukrainian Nazis officially sanctioned by the state.

No Relation to Henry

Use Google dudes. Sid Vicious was not a septic! ๐Ÿ˜‰

"Thule" isn't pronounced "thool", it's pronounced "too-lee". Everyone pronounces it wrong, and I have no clue why - other than it's intentional, because the incorrect pronunciation sounds more ominous? I expect way more out of someone as brilliant as Liv.

Sid and Vicious .....Noooooo. I am so f'n old!!!! Sid and Nancy was one of my favorite movies!

I thought the whole Bowie fascist thing was the media misunderstanding his comment about Hitler staging an entire country and the Thin White Duke character. Did he really have a genuinely fascist phase?

Bombs Over Rome

My main problem with Liv episodes is that I feel she doesn't leave space for the others to chime in as much. Her episodes are instructive and full of excellent information, but she tends to go on and on without pausing for a discussion. She needs to let these episodes breathe a bit, let the others asl questions and add to the talk.

I would love to share this with people and was disappointed to find it was a premium episode. Thought this was excellent context for the current state of Russian conflict/propaganda/ideology, as well as demonstrating the irony of Russian propaganda accusing Ukraine of Naziism. Also so many parallels to American right-wing ideologies in the present.

We love our Liv, don't we folks?

Liv episodes make our brains bigger. Thank you Liv!

Another great one. Missed that some of Dugin's works were translated into English by Mrs Richard Spenser? (Nina Kouprianova)
