Narrow escape

Each step upward revealed more of her dripping form, the sunlight catching the rivulets like tiny diamonds. Unaware of the presence behind her, she reached the top rung. Jason stood silently at the ladder's base, his eyes fixed on her ascending form. As Megan stepped onto the dock, water droplets continued to fall from her, splashing into the lake below, where Jason's gaze remained locked on her, unblinking.
