AY

So, I have been experimenting with this vox-log format further...
... in the shape of a video in the ever-dreaded top ten format.
Vile and heinous creature, Alfabusa, unironic enjoyer of top tens.

I have tried to create something as simplistic as can be whilst still being something I enjoy. Something that could be put together on a regular basis without much issue.

Now, there was issue anyway, I have been quite distracted, but thanks to the recent intervention of a new editor who's helping me out, we managed to get these two new audio dramas finished up.

If you're interested, I'd love for you to listen to them and tell me if you think they're alright.
I do appreciate feedback of course, but I'm gonna be honest, I'm not looking to somehow revamp or make things even more complicated.
If these simply aren't enjoyable enough as content on their own and I need to make the format more complicated somehow, it might not be worth the time investment.

That is not to say there won't be more audio dramas alike Day in the Life of Boy or the Russ Baby Games one, of course, they just take a bit more time to make, time of which I'm currently investing in bigger projects.

But, yeah, please do take a listen to 'em if you have the time and interest.
I personally like the second one more, but the first one does have a lot of interesting lore stuff you might not find comprehensively anywhere else.

Nevertheless, here are the Vox-Logs, both as youtube videos and as MP3 files;

Wonderful.

PheonixSun

but seriously, if you ever wanted to do SFX for a movie game or Netflix show you could provide these as a portfolio (like if Dark Crystal ever comes back you could apply for the audio dep)

JeanWorm

I like these audio episodes, these and the emperor’s canals episode from early 2020 put me in mind of radio dramas. Also it really highlights your skill at SFX as well, which I personally hadn’t noticed at first through the funny visuals and dialogue of the main series cause I’m a smallbrained, easily befuddled creature that can’t process too many things at once

JeanWorm

I’m superrrr late to the party but what do you think of putting these audio-only items on Spotify? I’ve really been enjoying them but would require the youtube app to be open and that makes it difficult to listen on the go 😞

Ay! It does work, I am just very bad at using it because I don't have, like, a dedicated day where I do patreon stuff. It comes very randomly...

Alfabusa

An off-topic question: Does the messaging system for messages to creators actually work? I've only used it a couple of times, but there doesn't seem to be a response.

Wordweaver Morgan Coalburn

In this economy time passes fast, at least in my experience. I think I speak for most of us by saying even if it's not content related hearing anything from you here is a good thing.

GUYFUN

I am ggfhsorry I am just procrastinating heavily in the hopes of getting to a point in EP30 where I feel I can post something good..............

Alfabusa

It's official Busman has forgotten about us. Guess we'll just have to go back to pestering ThunderPsyker for videos forever.

GUYFUN

Im mad. No cain. no mood kindred? hmmm.

Josef Lynn

episode 30 never

Vlaiss

tis been a long time

GUYFUN

To clarify, I do not oppose audio logs in the slightest, they have mostly been very good, I just feel that this particular format should not become a regular feature unless the focus is more on showcasing the characters and less on the list itself. Listening to it again I feel that this was just listing some lore by a couple of characters that really did not add much to it.

Thorbjørn Suther

Quick question in a previous video of q and a. You mentioned someone named the millennial could you please explain that? Did you mean the fanfic Defrosted: A 40K Story?

How did I miss these?! Alfa, I've loved all your audio logs since starting with Podcast 0 and they're some of my favorite material. I can drive and listen to this greatness! I really look forward to more of these logs and eagerly await the day you do another podcast.

Phantasos

I miss Bulgo, he was the lucky boy.

Baz

merry crimbus alfa though I hear you swedes do that in the past

GUYFUN

I quite enjoy pretty much all the stuff you put out for us, and i quite like the vox logs personally.

Oh these are very good- I'm a big fan of audio dramas and comedies anyway, so these Vox-logs add a greater variety to what I already listen to and are a great bridge between episodes.

SKetches

I'll be honest, wasn't feeling this one. I loved the absurdity that was the top 20 primarchs but here it was just a bit too straight laced to really be funny or charming. It was to be frank a bit boring and predictable.

Thorbjørn Suther

Many of us were here from the start. we enjoyed the old videos a great deal and so when alfabus here is questioning the quality of the work i'm a bit puzzled. We enjoyed it then and most of us would enjoy it now.

GUYFUN

These audio logs are fun and always welcome! Buddy, listen for a sec. Creators like you and me can get really hung up on this argument of quality versus quantity, and the compulsion to make something flawless often leads to paranoia and letting something sit in the oven wait longer than it needs to. What the best artists in the world will tell you, is that it's not about making something perfect. It's about improving yourself, which can only be done by just making things. You worry that these audio logs are inferior because they are easier. As somebody who's watched you grow as a creator, and as someone who fell into that pit myself, I assure you that this is incorrect. In fact, I personally enjoy these little Snippets just as much as I do the standard episodes of the text-to-speech series. Frankly if you find that making the long-form episodes is an exhausting slog, then maybe you could consider breaking your episode ideas into smaller chunks so that they are easier to deal with individually. It's just a thought. Anyway, keep up the good work man! I look forward to whatever you do in the future!

Pixel Appreciator

New patron here. These vox-logs are great and fantastic at helping lessen the wait between TTS episodes. I discovered your YouTube during quarantine and the entertainment it has provided in these grimdark times is worth far more than the $5 i can afford to pledge. Keep up the great work. #RebuildTheThousandSons #MagnusRecruitBoy

these logs are very fun, and i hope you do more! the interactions between slippery and big bone are a delight you need to do a tierlist of trazyn's manspreading also thanks and have a good day, half of buses

BlevRuz

I enjoyed these a lot and they were fun in the same way the first episodes of the main show were, and the book club. It's good to hear a Custodes and the Emperor talking about the weird and wild stuff happening across the galaxy.

Paul Calhoun

These "Vox Logs" are great for humor and the fact that they can be listend to in the background while doing other things and not worrying about missing a visual joke. As to preference in format between the two: whichever you prefer, I listen to these in the background more often than watch anyway. if the difference is not visual but auditory, while learning new lore in an easy to understand and fun way is great, I would prefer you not put yourself out just for that, go for what you want. If you find yourself in possession of a large amount of free time and 40K books and WANT to make a fancy lore Vox cast by all means that would be great. If you do not have much in the way of time for double checking everything with various experts and just want to throw together a hilarious comedy Vox cast that too would be great. All in all as long as the video is what YOU want to make, perfect.

Nicholas T. Turner

Thank you I love it

Bob of Doom

checked out both vox-logs and enjoyed them a lot! Can definately be posted like this and will probably be liked by the majority of those who view them. Insightful, funny, highly enjoyable to listen to, these shall join in my "Background while painting minis and playing certain games" - list. So great job alfa and I would love to get more like those!

Maybe all this talk of quality over quantity has given you the impression you must try your hardest for all your work? When in fact most people are happy to get ANYTHING from your channel.

GUYFUN

Oh hell yes, these are a lot of fun to hear! Worth it, especially when I'm busy and just need something in the background to enjoy.

Trevor Bond

Glorious.

Fizz of Insanity

Those were both infromative and enjoyable. Thank you!

Lyner

Love it! Thanks!

Le Phénix de la Fortune

The second one was funnier but the first one was more informative. Some of the stuff I originally thought were jokes in the show and not actual lore, like the Squats.

Xejicka

I enjoyed it quite a lot. I listened to them while laying down after work, and it made for good material to relax to and still be interested in. Well done for something intended to be on the easier side of things to create.

Cartoonjunkies

I wanted a watch mojo reference, but I guess that channel is dead...

Joshua Crager

I absolutely adored these. The subtle details that imply the emotional states of both Whamuudes and The Emperor are interesting. For example Whamuudes has been shown so far to be overtly sexual and loathing of normals, as well as having a surprising amount of depth. I never considered however his own self-loathing and the way in which it is shown so flawlessly is indicative of this series. Apart from the character development, I think these Vox-Logs are wonderful because they help make Warhammer Lore more easily digestible.

I dont have anything technical to really recommend, I thought these were very good alfa. I don't think it needs to be more complicated really and if you have the time and desire to make these I think the format and style is good and fun to listen to.

matt

Sorry for being late to the party, but, I love the audio dramas, they are phenomenal. After listening to these two in their entirety I only have one complaint: Ciphas Cain wasn't an honorable mention. And I did pick up on the editing issues that were listed before, but it's not a huge deal! Quality content Alfa! Always appreciate comic relief in the grimdarkness!

Oofgar Uberfink

I think I deleted my second comment... Video #2 1. Editing mistakes at 15:03 and two other marks that I lost 2. I like the references to the three Sisters and the joke at 15:03! Overall, I find them somewhat less funny than regular TTS. It is not because of the format, because I loved the sewer vox-log and the top 10 primarchs. If I had to put my finger on it, it would probably be the more monotonous voice of Wamuudes(?) but you already said this is on purpose. I hope I don't come across as entitled jerk from the internet, I do love your work and I continue to support.

Yay for stuff. Stuff is good

Fuck, 102 and 112, really? Uh oh.... The way the character speaks was kind of intentional, in that it is supposed to be a bit slower and more measured! Specifically so one can listen to em without getting too annoyed. Perhaps even fall asleep to em, there's a big market for that kind of content, albeit I think I kind of ruined it immediately in the second one....

Alfabusa

This that all is very much appreciated, and I really hope the day remains mildly improved after you've listened to em!

Alfabusa

I watched the first one and I have two remarks: 1. Emperor randomly asked the Custodian to spew some facts. When the Custodian started speaking, his speech was very slow and measured, as if he was reading a text rather than recounting things form his head and kept speaking like that for the rest of the video. To me, this is very different from how he normally speaks. 2. First they said Thor died at age 102, and then at 112. Otherwise the video was fine, I enjoyed it :)

I haven't even gotten 20 seconds into the first one and i'm already sold.

I love the audiodramas you make, man, anything in your tts-verse just brightens my day. Work sucked today, and you just made it ten times better. Thanks for keeping on the grind! Edit, listened to the first and halfway through the second. Today's been salvaged lmao. You rock, Alfa.
