ICYMI: My Life Today, Jim Hanley's Universe Anecdote (12-5-17)

Steve Gatti, mentioned in this strip, died a few years ago. I was very close to Steve in those days, several friends of mine were, as well. The comic book shop had a large cast  of characters with a lot of irregulars and cameo players in the mix. I dated Steve's sister for a little while while I was working at the store. 

Some people drift out of your life, some veer straight off the road and through a fence or five. I'm glad Steve got me out of that bathroom mustard gas, that's for sure. We'll call it even.

Anyway, cleaning out a restaurant that wasn't too particular about health violations was sheer drudgery. Anything to be in the glamorous world of comic book retailing! Yeesh.

Back soon. Working on some new posts, doing some scanning and writing down some notes. Trying to get two new short strips done. Rough couple of days, looks like a freelance gig is not happening that was actually locked in but circumstances upset the apple cart. It's pretty much a done-deal that upped and done died, but we'll see if a miracle happens. I'll be posting about it here after the dust settles.  

Thanks to the folks who joined up in March, and thanks to the folks sticking around. I just watched seven bad horror movies in a row (well, actually one quasi-genre movie that was a complete head-buster of badness, four just not-good movies, one okay but frustrating movie and one interesting misfire which turned out to be a real letdown). I ate a lot of food and crap and drank a lot of soda and made myself a bit sick at one point during the day like a dumb kid. And I should have been in bed hours ago but I'm avoiding it (high anxiety, youuu winnnn!). I should try to go to bed even though I don't want to. A lot of tough news and stuff this past week or so. Here's to better days for all and sundry. Pete Sundry, mainly, a butcher I know who works mail order. Customers have to send him the meat. Very sketchy.
