We’re going Monthly!

Hey guys,

After much consideration over the past few months I have decided to implement some much needed changes to the Patreon campaign. We’re going monthly! 

Going monthly means that you’ll be paying half of what you have been paying so far per month without losing any of the rewards! As long as you stay pledged at your current tier, you will continue to recieve the same rewards that you have in the past.

You may notice new tiers have sprung up in place of the old ones. They’re much the same, with the removal of one and addition of another. These new tiers exist alongside the old ones, but the new tiers will be the only ones you and new patrons  can pledge to in the future. To clarify, this means that once you leave an old tier, you cannot repledge to it. While I would appreciate it if everyone moved to the new counterpart of their old tier, you’re free to stay in the old one for as long as you want, you more than deserve it!

Other than that, everything will remain the same.

Why the change?

When I set up the campaign almost 18 months ago I was working under a few assumptions and considerations that have since been proven to be more or less wrong or no longer relevant. There have been some changes along the way, but none have addressed the fact we were still on the “per update” system left over from the very beginning.

Due to the way Patreon works this leaves me without any real way to prevent bots or scammers from pledging to a given tier and running off with all the content I’ve produced so far. It also complicates pledging, what does “bi-monthly” mean exactly? Twice a month or Once every two months? That, combined with tier pricing have raised the bar for new Patrons to such a degree that I decided it was in the long term interest of the campaign to change it to “monthly”.
