It's funny when people are surprised by the incest. After 8 seasons of GoT you'd think people would realize incest was prevalent in the Targaryen family. Really it was prevalent with families from Valyria in general, Valyrians had magic in their blood and they generally liked to keep it that way. Especially families with dragons blood.

The next time I watch GOT, I’ll have to pay closer attention because she mentions a lot of books about Targaryens and their dragons. I do remember her mentioning that she read about Daemon Targaryen and Aegon Targaryen. Daenerys’ older brother from S1 was also named Viscerys. You remember the golden crown Khal Drogo gave him, right?

BJ was right, I was watching the companion show on HBO (The House that Dragons Built) about the making of the show and in talking about the Crab Feeder guy they said his mask was supposed to be a mash up of Sons of the Harpy and other stuff so you were right! I finally caught that the last sigil you see in the credits is three interlocking rings which stands for Rhyneara and the charm on the necklace Daemon gave her. Also neat that Jason Lannister has a twin (played by the same actor) on the small council which is guess sets up that twins run in the Lannister family since Jamie and Cersei were twins. It’s weird to think that it’s just the first season and so much drama has already happened - especially when you look at the crazy twists and turns of seasons going through Game of Thrones. If this is season one, I bet season two will really be crazy!

The Targaryens were an incestuous house because of the dragon riding blood so they married siblings , cousins aunts and uncles to keep the bloodline pure ! In my opinion once they started married outside of the bloodline , that’s when the end began .

Thanks for breaking it down. 👍🏾 I don’t think they caught or remember the beginning of the first episode where is states this takes place more than 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones. So there is no way anyone in HOTD is a grandparent or just a great-grandparent to anyone in GOT. Daenerys is King Viserys's great-great-great-great-great-great-great granddaughter! Also there are several Aegons (not Argon 😉) within the Targaryen family. Even Jon Snow is Aegon Targaryen. A lot of the same names given to several ppl in this family so it can get confusing.
