Talk to the Audience?!? - February 2022 With Nina Matsumoto
Added 2022-02-23 04:59:00 +0000 UTC
As we reach the end of the shortest month of the year, we welcome back the fantastic artist Nina Matsumoto (check out her upcoming Sparks! Future Purrfect graphic novel) as our first in-person guest in forever to help us recount it! We chat about many Simpsons anniversaries, the return of Futurama without John DiMaggio, and lots more animation news. We also chat about all the fun we've been getting up to the last few weeks and preview some upcoming podcasts. Finally, we respond to our fave Patreon comments for Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, and What A Cartoon! Listen now to learn how a shrinking serum also shrinks a costume!
Nina being the first in-person guest since COVID started is only fitting, and frankly she was a blast on this month's community ep so here's hoping she'll reappear on these eps in the future

If you're still looking for a good (old) Paper Mario experience I can't recommend Bug Fables enough, it wears its PM influence on its sleeve to a point where you might just assume it's a lame copycat but both the mechanics and writing are really strong.

I can’t say how much y’all’s ability to pronounce my last name correctly makes my day. Thank you! Also I loved hearing Nina on this episode. And also, I do think Disenchantment part 4 does get better as it progresses. There’s a fuck-ton of fan service, but I don’t mind it.

Could have sworn Disenchantment pt4 had a pt3 recap, cause I clicked on skip recap. Pt 4 ended ho hum. The series has been a real slow burn. I did like some of the revelations made in pt 4, but overall...meh.

Great recap, Interesting to hear that Wind Up Bird Chronicle was a common read in the gaming press. I’m a huge fan of Murakami and would say start with Wild Sheep Chase or Hard Boiled Wonderland & End of the World first, as they’re equally great and a bit shorter / accessible. 1Q84 is his best imo but really long. As for films, ‘Burning’ is also adapted from one of Murakami’s short stories and is a fantastic slow burn and was the Parasite for Korean cinema slightly before Parasite came out.

Honestly the Comedy Central run of Futurama had so many lackluster episodes I can't get excited for it. I mean get payed John but honestly I won't be watching unless the reviews are incredible

I just wanted to say that as much as I enjoy the "Talk to the Audience" episodes, they are so much more fun when Nina is around!
