Iron Man 3 Reaction

Comments

You know, I heard someone recently say that they didn't really care for this movie on first watching (or wasn't that big a fan or something) but on subsequent viewings, they enjoyed it a lot more. I tend to agree because the movie is pretty dense, with a lot of people and relationships/connections going on and there's not a lot of just sort of downtime moments. On subsequent viewings, I really appreciate how much IS put in there and how well everything follows and connects and demonstrates how that first thing said in the movie from Tony that "we create our own demons" is especially true for Tony, but is also true for Killian and the woman who came up with Extremis. They all started out meaning well, but eventually something happens here and another thing happens there and eventually, if you're not careful, you're at a place far away from where you started and its intent. Tony never got to the point where his mistakes made him villainous, but he did take his eye off the ball and put the people he loved in danger and inadvertently pushed others towards villainous act. Those choices were obviously up to them ultimately. Looking back at what stands out, it can seem like the movie is all over the place, because a LOT happens, but it does flow and make sense. I get though if people don't care for the story, especially in comparison to the others, because it is different. But, I really do appreciate that it all sort of hinges on the fact that Tony is traumatized, which is something people don't seem to think about much from superheroes and it has been RARELY addressed, which is the benefit of Marvel building up the characters to be more "human" so we can relate to them as people.

Yea there's definitely a lot happening in this one and they jerk us in and out of settings very quickly

Its fair to say most people were not a fan of this movie compared to the others. The idea of destroying the armour, and removing the chest piece was Tony ending that chapter of his life where it was a good option to end his story there if needed. The kid had a Mother, but he mentioned she worked, so was bascially not able to be around very much.
