In response to accusation of game updates breaking mods
Added 2023-08-22 23:29:19 +0000 UTCIt takes time and energy to maintain a mod and I would very much like to make it version independent as well, I mean attracting people with new mods is always better than mod breaking and people having to resub.
So starting from Starfield it will not break upon game updates, I'll implement something like the address library or use memory signatures to make sure of that.
And I'll gradually update my other mods to be version independent (it takes time).
I've always tried to make my service XGP-like so that anyone subscribes at any time can have access to all my previous mods without having to pay for each, and I have been making new mods each month, I don't think $5 for such a service is too much to ask, that's all I have to say.

i'm a first time subscriber, and i immediately went for the annual subscription because i've done my research with your mods. you do amazing work and the results i see on youtube and other platforms are insane. you deserve to love doing what you're passionate about without the accusations. keep going, you're doing great

2024-03-05 17:56:15 +0000 UTCYou are human like the rest of us, you have your own things and your own life besides just sitting and fixing mods, take time if you need it, people that dont understand this are just dumb, love your modes and what you r doing

2023-09-06 00:42:56 +0000 UTCPersonally, my problem never was the 5$, it was the fact that your mod has DRM that at least used to break if you decided to not keep subbing to this Patreon, which I feel, for a mod, is a bit scummy. A one time check for all of the mods that doesn’t require a constant subscription, but rather a one-time payment though? That is more than fair to me at least, considering how much your mod improved my experience with Starfield. As long as your mod stays as a one-time payment with access to updates, I have no problems with it.

2023-09-05 09:06:43 +0000 UTCYou have the only product on the market and yet you're not being evil about it. That alone gives me all the faith I need to support you.

2023-09-05 00:43:39 +0000 UTCHi, i hope we all get some more frames out of starfield with your Mod,its the first one i will try out. Since i was playing the Sims 4 MP Mod i had patreon DRM,so i dont mind you use such too. Keep up your work, hope to see starfield mod in the next days . greetings from Germany 👋

2023-08-31 23:23:21 +0000 UTCSide question, when will the DLSS for Starfield be ready? I for some reason assumed it was already out, that's why I came here to get it. I'm not complaining, just wondering if we have a time frame.

2023-08-31 22:36:24 +0000 UTCThere's always haters dude. ALWAYS. Just do what you do. Charge what you want. And those who want it will get it. Those who don't, won't. You don't have to pander to the loudest minority of scrubs.

2023-08-31 22:34:45 +0000 UTCso they are complaining about a patreon sub? i get it i guess, mighty nice of you to fix it for them and lose revenue. I guess, lol
David Neubauer
2023-08-29 00:00:50 +0000 UTCSo far I'm happy with the sub, it gives having a 40 series card more value by being able to us FG in more games. Hopefully you continue to add it to games that don't have it natively.

2023-08-27 16:10:20 +0000 UTCKeep up the good work I personally do not mind resubbing 5 dollars isn't much to get a update I imagine it takes a lot of time to do this work but having an address library like solution would be really awesome just in terms of the user experience.

2023-08-24 18:56:41 +0000 UTCAddress library sounds like a clever solution. In any case, it's been a pleasure to stay subbed to you, and if the greatness continues, so shall my sub :) Thank you for all your work thus far!

2023-08-24 16:08:17 +0000 UTCIf anyone is pointing fingers they don't know a thing and are very rude dudes, please keep doing what you're doing I can't believe we rely on a non sponsored person for this high quality content so all the props in the world to you, I couldn't have played most of these games without you. Seriously, I can't play some because they aren't backed by you and that's on the devs,. You. Are a great guy.

2023-08-24 08:32:13 +0000 UTCOnly Patreon I've ever supported and I accept any/all risks and assume you do whatever is best, anything less and I wouldn't have been able to be in the mod world for all these years.

2023-08-24 08:28:27 +0000 UTCThanks for all you do - all confidence here! P.S. Skyrim SE is a dream now :)

2023-08-23 18:54:00 +0000 UTCIf you have ever subscribed once in your lifetime, you can always pass the authentication, expired or not. EDIT: I meant for mods you have access to before subscription expires of course, it doesn't mean a subscriber is allowed to pirate my future mods after their subscription window, the main selling point of my subscription is new mod each month.
PureDark
2023-08-23 16:02:03 +0000 UTCI'll resub and pay but if two months from now I halt payment and the version of the Starfield patch that I did pay for stops working because of some DRM I will be done with this. IDK how true it is but I was told that there is DRM in the red dead mod and that stopping the sub will stop the mod from working.

2023-08-23 14:22:55 +0000 UTCWe love you

2023-08-23 09:23:29 +0000 UTCI can't believe how cheap people have become, $5 a month is literally nothing, no-one works for free, if it weren't for PureDark's work there would be no DLSS FG in any of these games and some of them absolutely border on nearly unplayable with RT on even with top tier hardware (Jedi Survivor) without the mod. People complaining about how the updates break the mods and that they don't want to pay another $5 for a fixed version of said mod and this is for a game that costs $60-70, I mean good lord, you don't want to pay $5 for the mod, don't pay! Again, no-one should have to work for free, these mods are amazing and do require a bit of work, you eithe pay $5 a month or you don't.
Vincent Tuminello
2023-08-23 04:19:33 +0000 UTCIt's really nice to see how much effort you are putting into supporting these mods. Responding to pretty much every discord message, even going the extra mile into putting contingency measure to make sure the mods work in the face of factors that you can't control. Easily the moat worthwhile patreon money I've sent. Keep up the good work!

2023-08-23 02:36:29 +0000 UTCYou're doing a great job, continue like that 👍

2023-08-23 01:30:33 +0000 UTCLove your work! Thanks heaps.. you made Jedi a way better game than it was! Happy to pay for a few months to have kept that updated and for when starfield comes. Ignore the stupid haters, they're everywhere.

2023-08-23 01:29:07 +0000 UTCThat's understandable and my.comment wasn't a knock against you it was against the article even if it did lead me here it might dissuade others and that's not cool especially when you managed to get a mod working and "shipped" while most people were saying it wasn't even possible. Grid Legends only has Xess and it drives me crazy because it's not providing good AA neither is the games regular AA, THEN we have Callisto protocol which desperately needs DLSS but only has FSR2. The fact that Callisto is being held back the way it is is a shame because it does some interesting things but runs terrible at 4k and looks terrible on a 4k display at 1440p. It's like building a PC for crysis all over again.

2023-08-23 01:02:41 +0000 UTCAlright thanks for the clarification. I'll stay with the monthly subscription. You've been working hard and your mods are a godsend. You deserve it.

2023-08-23 00:40:54 +0000 UTCAlso...like...yeah...thats how mods work. Are you new to this world?

2023-08-23 00:40:10 +0000 UTCYou’re doing great you’re such a clever person to be able to make these mods and invest all this time . I’m a computer engineer and i wish to have your skills I just have time to play games but I’m happy to contribute with your work !

2023-08-23 00:39:00 +0000 UTCThat's quite generous of you, I mean I understand and agree that someone shouldn't have to necessarily pay again if an update makes something not work... it's hard to form an opinion on how updates for the mod should be handled especially regarding drm and that's. because none of us are in your shoes but personally I signed up for Jedi with fingers crossed a couple games already out get support even if I had to pay for a copy of the game. I'm also happy to stay a member just as a way of saying thank you for the work already done because. Obviously I won't pay forever if I'm just using 1 mod but chances are it will be quite a while because I want the new mod notifications for as long as the companies pull this crap and by that I mean release unoptimized games and only include one method of upscaling and I know I'll forget to check if I'm not a member.

2023-08-23 00:31:20 +0000 UTCI was actually just lazy and went with the easy route of using fixed addresses, back then I haven't made too many mods, the Skyrim and fallout4 ones have address library so I didn't need to worry about it. Guess I'll either implement a config for updating addresses or just use memory signitures.
PureDark
2023-08-23 00:18:41 +0000 UTCGlad you’re walking back on the update breaking aspect. That being said, I’m happy to pay the $5 every month, I appreciate all of the hard work you do.

2023-08-23 00:16:12 +0000 UTCUpdates in most games shouldn't break a mod like this in any way that's unfixable, it's just some new hex values for the hooks yeah? the article in question was in my Google feed and is actually how i found the mod but I also knew it was a hatchet job from the time I've spent learning modding this past year and the Spiderman remaster mod I'm working on that makes each arm controlled by a trigger for swinging like in spiderman 2 on PS2 Xbox etc. To be fair though in regards to Bethesda and Starfield... chances are every update will break the game itself so technically the mod wouldn't work again until the next patch 6 hours later. Actually I think Microsoft is going to make sure starfield is as solid as possible. They spent the last 6 months doing an extra 6 months of testing and polishing and while gamebryo is an ancient engine it's also proven to be amazing for modding. I'm sure whatever engine they use for elder scrolls will be easy to mod but who knows how versatile it will be...ue5 ... which isn't the best with open worlds but maybe by the time it's out hardware will have gotten fast enough to make ue4 not suck then a few years after that we will be good with ue5 lol
d0x360
2023-08-23 00:11:57 +0000 UTCI added authentication over provocation and people threatening to leak it on day one. But about the update part I agree so I am making them version independent.
PureDark
2023-08-23 00:09:21 +0000 UTCAny time you subscribe you get download access to all mods for one month, if I release a new mod during this period you can get it, but you won't have access to the mods that come out after your subscription expires. But any mod you already have will still work, they don't require monthly subscription.
PureDark
2023-08-23 00:04:32 +0000 UTCSorry if I'm sounding dumb but if I pay the 5$ will I have access to all past present and future content? I'm currently a 5$ monthly patron but I'm looking for ways to save a bit more money, but having these dlss mods is a godsend. So I fear that If I unsubscribe I will lose access to the content. No harm done if I have to remain a monthly patron, but I just want to know exactly how it works.
ShirouEmiyaUBW
2023-08-22 23:54:01 +0000 UTCThank you for the post. You absolutely provide a helpful service to the PC gaming community. Though even as someone who intends to stay subbed for quite some time, I think the concern over DRM are valid (on a principle level). Even if they express those concerns in inappropriate ways
Automata
2023-08-22 23:52:36 +0000 UTCI read that article and thought it was a hatchet job, we support you and appreciate your work you've done on games like Jedi Survivor that were virtually unplayable in their released state.
Aaron G
2023-08-22 23:52:09 +0000 UTCI agree with you that $5 isn't too much to ask, but an authentication process, VMProtect, and mods breaking upon game updates is too much imo.
Evan
2023-08-22 23:47:15 +0000 UTCUnderstandable, I appreciate what you do. I just wanted to say that
Daniel Johnson
2023-08-22 23:39:34 +0000 UTCWell about other accusation I don't really care, but for game updates to break mods is something I've been thinking about, it doesn't really benefit me or the subscriber, for them having to resub only becuase the game updates one month later is not really ideal, and for me I would need to update them every time the game updates which is tedious, and I don't really need the resubs anyway, I only want to attract subscription to every new mod I've been making.

2023-08-22 23:35:10 +0000 UTCDon't worry about the hate, you doing good work. Fuck them
