CHERRY MAGIC: Manga Volume 8 Reaction & Discussion!

**PARENTAL ADVISED HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

8 is my lucky number and OH are we in for a treat this week! This manga volume was *pure* romance and snuggly adorableness with a twist of angst, as we get to FINALLY meet the parents this volume...on both sides, no less! I LOVED this volume so much!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

CHERRY MAGIC: Manga Volume 8 Reaction & Discussion!

Comments

Thank you so much for the comment and the kind words! The Rule of 8 does not let us down! On the tangent, thank you for sharing your experience with trauma reactivity. I honestly should read more on reactivity and reception theory/trauma studies - I feel that would help! I’m glad you brought that up!! Kurosawa free to freak out about Adachi out loud is not surprisingly adorable! I love Adachi taking initiative as well! The layers of them working as a domestic couple is so cute and realistic. Adachi taking charge is just so fun and with it being AFTER he “loses” his ability is so refreshing! I felt for Kurosawa - a lot of his personality makes sense in response to his home life. And it makes me so sad with how warm and accepting Adachi’s family was compared to his own…showing the “hot ones” don’t always have it easy all the way around. I wanted to give him a huge hug! Yay! I’m so glad that the monthly release schedule work! It’s great ot do these monthly catch ups on the manga! Hahaha! I have so many series I’m keeping track of and some can be monthly and others are every so many months so this works out great! And I love having the time to see things in the discord in between!

Loved the reaction and discussion! Rule of 8! Rule of 8! 🥰 Bit of a tangent: Yes, absolutely agree with what you articulated (with the help of Sulyeri’s excellent comment) regarding framing of content with a context of respect and empathy within a work (or from an author) and how impactful this can be. I have my own trauma reactivity with some topics (which may be mostly innocuous to a lot of the audience) and have had plenty experiences with multiple works/authors which cover a topic in a nearly exact fashion on the surface, but, due to so many other factors, I receive and experience completely differently. I’ve done a lot of reading around reader response and reception theory and within trauma studies to help my reactivity. And one thing it has done is really helped me develop very specific boundaries and a kind of internal barometer to help me be a more self-protective recipient of a work – I think this is very important when there is so much pure aestheticization of trauma in works and ethical representation can be really tough to find. /end of tangent Really love this current Kurosawa who seems so incapable of handling pretty much anything related to Adachi, everything is so intensely adorable to him. 🤣 Wonderful to see Adachi taking initiative in so many ways: with work in multiple ways which is also in combination with his relationship goals AND being better able to secure “their” future – so many layers!; expressing his feelings/doubts to Kurosawa straight away (rather than us getting multiple chapters and volumes of suspicion and insecurity, my goodness); taking charge of communicating with Kurosawa’s parents; etcetc. Just… incredible development and representation for Adachi, I adore it. And I love how much of that was prompted by him losing his “ability”! Terrific writing. 🥹 I also feel so sad for Kurosawa – with him experiencing such easy warmth and acceptance with Adachi’s family and being faced with a very different reality with his own. And I understand his line of (emotional) reasoning of not wanting to expose his partner to nonsense prejudice and pain and feeling like he’d be ultimately responsible for it. even if he was not the one delivering the pain. I was wondering how it would feel and I'd like to note that the monthly schedule works very nicely - gives time to share loads of stuff in the Discord and catch up with so much of the other amazing content. 🥰 Looking forward to the next volume! 🍒
