I personally think the name "Coraline" was deliberately altered from Caroline, in the same way the world she went to was a backwards form of her real world.

So, The Nightmare Before Christmas was adapted from a story book written and illustrated by Tim Burton. He co-produced the film, but the main creative team was composed of producer Denise Di Novi, writers Michael McDowell and Caroline Thompson, musician Danny Elfman and director Henry Selick. The studio put Burton's name over the film mostly for marketing purposes. Burton himself wasn't actively involved in the film's production as he was working heavily on Batman Returns. I had the opportunity to meet Henry Selick at the Montreal stop motion film festival a few years ago (he was a judge). He was a very lovely, soft-spoken elderly man. Amusingly, he had very high cheekbones with a very sharp jawline. He looked like he would fit right in one of his animated world.

Also, I hope youโ€™ll be able to watch The Nightmare before Christmas once Halloween comes around! Haha Fantastic Mr. Fox is also another really good Stop Motion film you should check it!

I first seen it in 2009 when I was 19.. but not in theatres. I think I rented it at the video store. But I loved it! It definitely had that creepy/eerie feel because the other mother and the button eyes, haha but also.. mysterious/fantasy/adventure type feel.. I loved it. And the soundtrack was so good. Whoever did the score did a fantastic job. I havenโ€™t watched it in a while but re-watching with you guys was great. Great reaction!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

This movie is very conflicting to me, because I am supposed to enjoy movies like these a lot considering what I grew up watching; it's not a bad movie, animation is great, but it better be for its budget. It doesn't try too hard, simplistic story, and only 1 hour 40 minutes... nice! However, I will not remember much of it soon, and it only made me want to watch 'The people under the stairs' from 1991 so, so much more. My grandmother rented 'The people under the stairs' when I was 6, and I loved rushing from school to watch that on repeat as one of the funniest movies ever. It makes no sense comparing these movies with very different atmospheres, but I truly wonder had I watched this as a kid, would I find it as memorable as 'The people under the stairs', thus making my nostalgia bias blind me to enjoy movies for kids like this one? Not sure; anyway off to enjoying Cucaracha's character again!

Just watched and loved your reaction guys! I will say that I saw it later in life and revelled in the creepiness, but I also love the way Neil Gaiman (who wrote the story it's adapted from) does creepiness. But I do know some people who saw it later and watch horror and still found it overly creepy and unsettling. On the copies/real stuff, yeah the most basic way is that the parents and dead kids were saved but everyone was copies. Gaiman is a massive scholar of fairy-tales so this follows a lot of that, where it is both real and a dream and it almost doesn't matter which it is so long as the lessons are learnt. I truly love this film, and you guys should definitely watch.more stuff adapted from Gaiman (the film Stardust, or shows like Good Omens and American Gods).

I saw this when it came out. I was around 8 and the scene when the mother is revealed as a spider scared the crap out of me!! I was especially unsettled by her suuper skinny collarbones haha

Yay! One of my all-time favourite films, so excited to watch you guys react to it! Also reminds me that I still need to show this film to my nephew next chance I get.

The Da Vinci Code , A Beautiful Mind , The Great Gatsby(2013) , Promising Young Woman and Black Swan are great for the live action Popular Poll .
