Star Trek Into Darkness | FULL AKIMA Reactions

We have a lot of Star Trek fans in our family! Our brothers have taught us a few things from the classics and newer shows. Kim actually is more informed than me, LOL! We enjoyed the first reboot, even though we've heard from super fans about flaws.. but this was just as fun for us too! Thanks for requesting this!

I really like the third one, it actually felt like Star Trek and surprise surprise it wasn't directed by JJ Abrams LOL

Daniel R

I really wish you got to see the original "Star Trek 2" before this one.

JJ Abrams is great at making initial movies. Many didn't like breaking Star Trek canon with the first one, but it was just a great movie. Sure the ship design was absurd and blah blah blah. It was fun. This one was fun too, but I just couldn't get over the laziness of the writing. To so closely use the original plot line just threw me too much to enjoy as much as the first one. Add to that the Klingons. I don't mind change, but after seeing how drastically different they were, it was just another thing that pulled me out of the movie. Don't worry though, the third is better.

You finally did it! I thought Red Letter Media's take on these movies was perfect. Originals: Boring but interesting (in most complimentary way) JJ movies: Silly but entertaining. I still end up having a blast watching them, even Star Trek Beyond. Can't hate em lol

For small films, at least, not reading the descriptions work.

I hope they get around to Star Trek ll: The Wrath of Khan to see Khan AND Star Trek done right!

David Crabtree

is this the one where they tried to do the 'Khan' thing that made no sense? lol

Daniel R

I hope you get to the real Star Trek films eventually.

Off topic comment: Since you just uploaded the YT version of The Iron Giant reaction, I just wanted to say that I appreciate that you read up just a bit about I.G. and discussed it with Mom and Kim BEFORE watching it. I've said many times that I think having some context and foreknowledge going into a movie only enhances the experiences, rather than going in completely "blind." I think this is especially valuable when you watch movies sometimes GENERATIONS past when they were released. Going into an old movie without any prior info would mean you'd essentially be having less context than even the audiences at the time of release would have.

The Vengeance is a beast . Starfleet usually doesn't make destroyers but when they do best not to get in it's way.
