This was a lost reactions we watched back in October, OMG! I'm so happy we made time to finally edit and upload it! It also gives Mom a little bit of a break from another movie this weekend (even thought she loves reacting).  Expect The Day After Tomorrow Sunday!

The Silence of the Lambs | FULL AKIMA Reactions

Comments

For another spectacular Jodie Foster performance (and far less gore and disturbing content), you should watch Contact (1997). It is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time. If you liked Arrival, then you oughta watch Contact, which is 100x better.

Ryan Murphy was supposed to be attached to Clarice but because of creative differences he left.

Your Mom is such a badass for watching this with you on the channel, and great reaction all-round to one of the best movies out there.

Zach

There's also a new show called "Clarice" about to start on CBS

since you guys seemed to enjoy this movie (despite all the gruesome bits!!), you all would definitely be able to handle Copycat starring sigourney weaver and holly hunter :D it has similar vibes, minus cannibalism, but I think you'll enjoy the crime mystery + strong women action! It's personally one of my fave movies and like someone else in the comments mentioned, VERY underrated. I highly recommend that one!

I think the recommendation of this movie was fine because it is one of the best films of the 90s and they probably thought that Mom could have simply skipped it like she did with Scream. I think she handles dark, violent movies much better than my grandmother did!

Hopefully you get to check out the tv show some day. Mads Mikkelson is great as Lector.

Carlos Hurtado

Whoever recommended this movie to you is an idiot; your mom was nowhere near ready for it. Any other "shocking" movie to her standards had at least a bit of willing suspension to disbelief that go with movies, but this particular one makes a really good effort to avoid any of it.

Manhunter and Red Dragon are two other good movies in the Hannibal Lector series. Both tell slightly different versions of the same novel. Kiss the Girls is another good serial killer movie starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd. The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie is pretty good as well. David Fincher also directed Zodiac, which is probably the best movie about a real serial killer and really makes you think. Copycat, with Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter, is another serial killer movie that came out in 1995 that was definitely underrated and should be more recognized.

Justin S.

The film that had made Hannibal Lector a popular icon in movie history. Now I cannot help but recommend that Akima Ladies react to SE7EN, another serial killer film which stars Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt, and was directed by David Fincher. Thumbs up for a Se7en reaction. ;)

The Edge was a good one.

This was a surprise! Great psychological thriller with two great performances. It is quite impressive of how much of impact that Anthony Hopkins makes with his character in less than 20 minutes of screen time. He definitely deserved the Oscar but it probably should have been for supporting actor, because lead roles are usually in the majority of the film. Jodie Foster gives other strong performances in Nell and Panic Room. Taxi Driver and The Accused are two earlier great movies that she did before this. Anthony Hopkins did multiple great movies in the 90s including Legends of the Fall, The Edge, and Meet Joe Black, which was one of my suggestions.

Justin S.

Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster both won Oscars for best actor and actress for this!! The film also won the Big Five Oscars. Meaning it won the the five biggest categories, making it only 1 of 3 to do it.

Anne

What a treat! I'll watch this later :) Thanks for all the great content you guys
