It does kick up a notch when Tim Burton is behind the camera. Google informs me of the Firefly reference, check. Similar thought of the business with Dort was likely not planned during last season. Works well here, aided by the first season being light enough on details that it has less of a retcon feel, and more revelation. Hear you on the appreciation of the show’s setup. They really do line up well the pieces of how they’ll bring Dort down. Simpatico about the face Jess had over the whole Frump Tower sales pitch being one of her greatest faces. Once Gideon got pushy about the money you knew his number was up. Probably would have happened sooner if he pushed the matter of splitting the tan Ciera. Of course, we both snuck in a reference to Starship Troopers. True that Casper hasn’t had a prominent career, though like you say, he seems ok with it. Actually saw him in Sleepy Hollow before Starship Troopers, so default image of him is from that. He did have the good guest spot on Monk. Still a hell of a thing when Dort set fire to him. Almost half-expected Dort to comment, “You smell like rendered horse, you burning asshole!” Steve continues to remind us how he is one of the best. Since you used the Spy Kids line, I can stop trying to figure it out where to crowbar it in for the finale. Kept trying to find a good spot for it but could never find one. The spot you have it is terrific. That line in the theater was a hell of a thing. As early as the first half of the show premiered, I was hearing people gushing about Agnes, so I figured she was getting a good arc. It stood out how you spoke of her mashing on one of your biggest triggers, and yet you ended up loving her did, that set my attention on her. We do try not to lead or hint with the comments, sometimes unsuccessfully, and I’ve been guilty of it myself. I remember trying not to say much about Kallus early on in Rebels for that reason. Or like with Abby, trying not to wink much if at all. (And in my case, knowing her killing Joel was coming, and I didn’t expect it to happen that following week.) Agnes does go through strong growth that you, Jess, me, we’re all down for more. The Claude Rains bit could be story breaker potential; a delicate balancing act they’ll have to do with that one. Evie shows the skill that yes, I’m interested in future work. There has indeed been many a show and film that exhibits that “This person is funny and clever, so they can be as nasty as they want.” thing. (Looking at you, Daemon.) And it does end up being wonderful that this show draws a line in the sand with that when Wednesday calls out Grandmama out on her treatment of Gomez. Got me good seeing Jess tear up at that one as she did. Love the words about how the show has been about family.

You know it's going to be special when Burton himself steps in to direct an episode (and the first season was even the only thing that could get him to drag himself back to the job for years after he had such a horrible experience on Dumbo). Starting off with Dort's sudden but inevitable betrayal, where we all knew something bad was up with him but I highly doubt anyone saw this coming. And I'm calling no way anything like this was planned during the stuff with Bianca's mother in the first season, but it still fits perfectly because they took the effort to do it right. It's stories like this that really makes me appreciate the show's setup that all the supernatural stuff is just a regular, accepted part of the world even to normal humans, so we can get stuff like the cops being involved in this and Dort having to be more on his toes dealing with them. And on rewatch I've really appreciated how you can see them setting up all the pieces of exactly how our heroes can find out what he's up to and take him down. Another of my favorite faces of yours ever with his pitch to Grandmama. His killing Gideon isn't quite as shocking to me as the show seemed to want, and I don't know why Gideon is so upset. He always said he didn't want to live forever (I'd go with another big famous role of his, but there aren't any; kind of a sad career but he seems content with it). Buscemi really brings it to the confession scene, fully believable that all this is being forcibly wrenched out of him but he also can't help still being proud of it all. And he really should have known not to show himself at the gala. God stays in heaven because he too lives in fear of what he's created here on earth. We reach the culmination of Agnes' story, and as much as I try to avoid spoilers in these, I probably did a bit too much anticipating of this moment in how I talked about her. From introducing herself by pushing one of my biggest personal buttons to now, she completely won me over and her further development is one of the things I'm most looking forward to in Season 3. The big trouble there is the possibility that her invisibility could be too much of a story breaker, but by this point I definitely trust this crew to know how to handle it. Evie was awesome from the start, and the amount of emotions she gets here shows she's very much worth keeping an eye on as her career progresses. I've seen my fair share of movies and shows that expect you to think "This person is funny and clever, so they can be as nasty as they want." So it's good to see the show is smarter than that, and Wednesday ends up showing her grandmother the door for how she talks about her father. This family has always been most important for how much they love each other, and that extends to being against other family that don't.

this was a fun episode to watch, don't know if you noticed that the actress playing Agnes made a small mistake at the end of the dance which she quickly corrected, love how they kept it in as it shows she wasn't perfect, i'm glad Agnes used the power of invisibility for good
