Added 2017-10-10 05:43:31 +0000 UTCAfter seeing the trailer for the new Natalie Portman movie "Annhilation" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufaDurSCKOk&t=1s) I was inspired to take this series of photos with Alaska Mauve, with the aesthetic being "nerdy scientist girl goes on an expedition"
We used a Tactical Tailor external frame pack filled to the brim with... packing supplies. With actual gear, that pack easily would go over 100 pounds.
Hikng around Central WA in rough terrain... with just a mockup pack got pretty old pretty fast, especially with the rocky volcanic terrain that hates ankles. Not sure how my friends in "light fighter" ground combat roles (Rangers, USMC Scout Sniper, Infantry, Army SF) did that kinda work, day in, day out, but glad that we have such people to do such work!
