Disco Flashback Character - Ablu

Comic pages are coming along good, but one thing I wished I could do with this comic is go a little deeper with some of the new characters. Maybe that’s something I could do one day? Either way, in this case all the characters, even background characters, have names, personalities and short bios, so I’ll take a moment to talk a bit about them.

The first person I’d like to talk about is Ablu. At Paradise it’s worth noting that everyone uses pseudonyms, so Ablu is not his real name. One thing I thought was funny is that everyone’s fake name is actually a lewd phrase when pronounced correctly, so consider that going forward.

Personality-wise Ablu is suave and reserved but secretly kind of likes trolling people a bit. He purposefully chose a name with Greek, French and Arabic roots to kind of confuse people who try to pin his nationality down. Additionally he wears a necklace with the country of Equador carved into the face, although even that is probably another misdirect.

Visually I have a few inspirations but the main ones are Dracule Mihawk from One Piece sort of mixed with John Waters. There’s even a bit of John in his personality as well.

I’ll spotlight a few of the other characters on here as well once I’ve got more pages colored. Lemme know which characters you’d like me to cover!
