Forest creatures! So as I've talked about before, Patreon is sunsetting my per-creation billing model and will be moving you guys to the subscription plan by November of this year. I talk about it at length in this post from last year, and I reached out to you to get your opinions and vote in a poll that I thought would help me gauge how you're feeling about your membership and what kinds of changes you would still be happy with. (Also thank you all for the stunning response rate because it's helped me so much!!)
I've taken very much this whole time to think about options that I hope would still make this fun and worth it, and I wanted to follow up on that post.
My focus is on two things: Retaining you guys/still making it worth your money, and mitigating a potentially ~50% loss of income going from per-post to a flat rate. One of the main categories I'm focused on were those who said they could not do more than the $4/mo (1 post/mo). I don't want to lose you so I'm extremely aggressively avoiding taking away that option. I want to keep sharing my art with you, you've been good to me, and many of you have been with me since the beginning and I don't want to ruin that by pricing you out.
The other part of this is the majority of you have chosen to financially support me for more than one post, with the most common cap being 2 posts/mo, and I'm incredibly, incredibly grateful for you. You've made a lot of basic things possible for me that I've never been able to have before. All my members are important to me and I want to keep all of you while giving you the freedom to keep paying how you see is fair.
My personal limitation is time and energy. I'm maintaining a doable work/life balance at this pace, and increasing the number of pieces I complete a month would completely consume the rest of my time and burn me out real fast. I have to be so real with you, it would be completely unsustainable.
β¨ The way I ran my patreon for the first several months was 1 art post/month, so basically everyone was paying a flat $4/mo. During this period was when the majority of you joined actually. I want to gauge how you feel about it now that we've been here a while.
Once we switch off per-post and go to a flat monthly rate, how do you feel about the $4 tier returning to 1 finished piece/month with some additions?
π$4/month flat rate
Access to the first uncensored art of the month plus tier backlog
more frequent works-in-progress
lore dumps/text posts
π$8/month flat rate (this is what the majority of you are doing, it would just now become one lump $8 payment instead of two $4 payments, so nothing changes for you in bill and you keep all current benefits with some extras)
Access to all uncensored art
timelapse/process videos
more frequent works-in-progress
lore dumps/text posts
IMPORTANT: During the changeover from per-creation to subscription billing, Patreon will honor your monthly paid post maximum you set. So, if you cap at $4 before we switch over and I make the former $4 Everything Tier into the new $8 Everything Tier, you'll still only be paying $4/mo to get the full $8 tier benefits! The catch is if you cancel or switch tiers you can't get that special rate back. This is only available to those of you who join a tier before the migration date (which will be later this year, not now. I will give you PLENTY of notice).
I wanted to involve you in the process to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. This has brought me so much joy as a new career and although Patreon has thrown a ridiculous monkey wrench into things, I'm sure we can work something out.
I need your honest opinion and/or suggestions, so leave a comment below or private message me! You can't hurt my feelings in any way, I'm just looking to try to make the best plan here. Like, if these changes would have you strongly reconsidering your subscription, I want to know. It's important that I know where the issues are and how widespread it is.
THANK YOU!! πππ
