Per-creation billing - rapid joining and canceling

Heya, I can't believe it's been more than 6 months since launch! Welcome new people and to those who have been around, thank you! I've been having a great time and I hope you have too. Some recent conversations prompted me to clarify the way my per-creation billing works since it's an older model.

Basically I've noticed that members are often warm and conversational and lovely, but I've also noticed a large portion were joining and then immediately canceling, meaning their pledge didn't make it to me. They didn't seem like people just trying to get free stuff so I sort of bit the bullet and asked them about it, and I'm glad I did! Every time I've gotten very sweet responses of people just not knowing how per-creation billing works.

• With per-creation, your pledge goes to me only if you remain in a paid tier at the time I make a new post. How it works:

⭐ For your pledge to reach me:

You join a tier > I post a finished art piece while you're joined > your pledge goes to me on the 1st of next month

❌ How your pledge does not reach me:

• You're a free or non-member > you join a tier to see my most recent piece > you cancel or drop back to free member > your pledge does not reach me

• You join a tier > you cancel > I post a new piece after you've canceled > your pledge does not reach me

When you join a tier, you're basically saying you will pay this only if you're still a member when I post my next piece. It doesn't leave your account until I do and if you cancel before I do, you're not billed at all.

⭐ What if you like to cancel and rejoin subs every month?

• If you're just worried about being charged more than you want, you can cap your payments at a set amount per month. On the screen after you join a tier you'll see a box to set a monthly maximum. You can adjust it at any time by finding me in your membership list and clicking Edit.

• If you still want to sub manually, you can just cancel after I post a finished piece and your payment will process. You can rejoin immediately afterward or at any time.

I'm only giving a heads up because of the number of people who were unaware and told me that they thought they were supporting me! I'm grateful for it and I figured that there was a larger group of people in the same situation who are just quieter. I'm not upset or mad or anything and this is not meant to call anyone out at all, it's just one of those things that Patreon doesn't do a great job of explaining and sort of leaves it up to us; I figured the half-year mark was a good time to bring it up.
