June is welcomed back into the classroom just in time for a nice bit of puppeteering. She’ll get to play out a little theater scene with Ms. Cosset (Screenshot 2). Basically, there’s going to be a close-up shot of the theater, and each graphic element is going to be on its own separate layer. The cardboard appears on top of everything, then there’s a layer with the curtains that can be removed or pulled down. And finally, the puppet is on top of the background, which comes last. These backgrounds might remind you of some places, like Dr. Lang’s office or the school classrooms. I still don’t know what the chick class is going to look like, so I drew my best approximation. The puppets were a lot of fun to draw. They behave like the characters’ sprites: they are organized into layered images, with a base and attributes on top of it (Screenshot 1). Working on those reminded me of working on the characters, so it was quite fun to reproduce this experience in a miniature version. And that’s about it for today! Next week, I’ll be working on integrating all of this into Ren’Py and making sure the segment works smoothly.
