House of the Dragon S2 EP4 *unedited reaction*

Sunfyre was just a beautiful dragon, the kind of dragon you take to fly around the realm, not into battle— Aegon is an idiot for taking him into battle, he is young and had no chance. Rhaenys and Melys deaths still make me cry. The way Melys looked back— I could sob.

Jonesy96

Why do you think Rhaenys turned around on Melys???

MamaKat114

I wonder if when Rhaenys saw Alan & touched his face saying his Mother must’ve been beautiful, it broke her heart. It seems she knew Corlys had bastards, and she probably told herself whenever she found out, that it was some tavern wench & might’ve eventually made peace with that. But realizing. He cheated on her with someone beautiful hurt her badly. I like that she said he should raise Alan’s standing. Idk if she knew about Adam though.

MamaKat114

Losing Rhaenys & Melys ripped my heart out!!! I had no idea it was going to happen

MamaKat114

I must say, i really like the way they made this. Instead of running into war, taking time to grief in Episode 1, taking time in Episode 2 for building tension after Aegons sons death, in Episode 3 let the war slowly getting into place by building more and more tension and than in this episode we got a whole battle scene with all the costs of it! I really like the choices they make in this series! I'm excited for more! Filming season 3 beginng in march guys!!

Isi

Wish we had seen more of Sunfyre bc he was such a good boy and loved Aegon and just wanted to fly with him :( I didn't even realize he turned to not squish Aegon as they fell :(

Caelin97

Every time Luke is on the screen, I can't help but see Zoolander with a wig... It just takes me out. ^^

Nick Rensen

I was an absolute blubbering MESS when Rhaenys went, it was so bad my partner had to pause the episode to let me recover. This episode was so gut wrenching to watch. It's so painful to watch dragons be hurt or die as well :(

Luana (TheWhiteDeer)

RIP the Queen that never was, honestly one of the best characters in the show, she shall be missed

Tam

I LOOVE Ser Simon Strong, he really is THAT girl as you'll see later, also it's iconic how much of a Rhaenyra stan he is and how he reaads Daemon

Tam

also to give the character SOMETHING because there's absolutely no character development in the book bc of the way it's written. the show managed to flesh out characters that were hardly 3 dimensional in the book

june

i HATE watching sunfyre squeal and get hurt :( poor baby honestly. so excited to fly out and then this happens

june

gag: our diva jon snow is a descendant of rhaenyra's!!!! not the hightowers. much to think about. much to consider

june

Rhaenys is one of my favourite characters in the whole GoT saga, and I was not expecting to see her go so soon. It still gets me. I never experienced the loss of a favourite character in GoT because they managed to stay alive until the end. Rhaenys was a first for me. Now I know how Robb's fans felt after the red wedding.

I mean I don’t want to find excuses and stuff because Aegon is definitely not a good person, but I do pity him. Not only was he never prepared for anything..he also said he never wanted to be king. He just wanted to do his thing, whatever that may be 😂

Nastja

Also, as much as I don't like Aegon, the reason he's unprepared is because of fricking Alicent. He was never taught or prepared to be king so she can get off her fucking high horse in that convo.

Ashlyn41

So the Daemon storyline. In the book all GRRM wrote was he went to Harenhall. That's it. In a desire to most likely keep Matt Smith on screen they created this storyline for him.

Ashlyn41

just a small bit of context about daemons experiences without spoiling anything. hes basically going a bit mad because harrenhal is "haunted" and in his brain hes going through things that hes done and realising his violence and that they werent the best decisions and kind of reflecting on his life and his relationships with his family and maybe he was a part of the problem

aprilguilfoyle

I was yelling at my screen when Rhaenys turned back cuz GIRL, you took out the king NOW YOU CAN LEAVE. Aemond wasn't even going for her after Aegon fell till she turned back. I'm beyond pissed 😭

Fei

I feel so bad for Sunfyre. He's 100% a golden retriever puppy, just so happy to go flying with his human, only to get ripped apart. But he even cared about Aegon as he fell, flipping over so he wouldn't squish Aegon when they hit the ground. Sunfyre is the bestest boi and didn't deserve ANY of this crap.

MamaSeesa

Aryn (the sailor who saved Corlys' life) is actually the bastard son of Corlys and another woman. So is his brother we saw previous episode (with the great bone structure as you said ahah). This is why Rhaenys touched his face and said that his mother must had been really beautiful. Because she knows about them, and yet she doesn't blame them for their existence (unlike Caitlin Stark's behavior towards Jon Snow...) Anyway, that battle was so brutal... I remember I kept screaming at my screen for Rhaenys to get the hell out, but she decided to die like the warrior Targaryen princess that she was. RIP to the Queen who never was <3

Manon

Omg same!!

Manon

I watched this while my mums friend was over at our house. They could hear me screaming, crying and yelling at the TV and thought someone in real life died. My mums friend was genuinely worried and my mum just said it's OK she's just watching house of the dragon 🤣🤣🤣 love that sunfyre twisted to land on his belly so aegon didn't get hurt as bad. I'm pretty sure sunfyre is a he but I could be wrong but I learnt some cool stuff about the dragon from the book and he's definitely one of my top 3 in the show. It's hard for anyone to beat caraxes for me lol. In the book it says Meleys might have stood a chance against vahgar alone but not against vhagar and sunfyre together. The moment Meleys looks back is so sad.

Christina

Yeah he's the poster child for 'if only decent people had raised him and given him a moral compass, he would've been a good person'. I've said it before, he isn't evil, just spoiled. He thinks he can have whatever he wants without consequence. His SA of Dyana is a great example of that. He didn't do it to hurt her, he doesn't take pleasure in pain for pain's sake, he just saw something he wanted and took it. If he enjoyed hurting people, Helaena wouldn't have said he 'mostly ignores her', because he would be hurting her on a regular basis. She's right there and can't run, a perfect victim just like Sansa was for Ramsey. Instead, he just does whatever brings him pleasure and doesn't care about the consequences. He called his time with Dyana a 'bit of fun', and I truly think he honestly thinks they both had fun. Does this excuse him? Absolutely not. But if he'd been raised differently, or if he went through a sort of mental detox, he could be a good person. If only Otto and Alicent had cared about him as a person and not a meal ticket.

MamaSeesa

She didn't get caught on Vhagar's claw. Everything in that portion of the fight was deliberate on Rhaenys and Meleys' part, from the moment Rhaenys strapped herself into the saddle so she wouldn't fall out when they went upside down. M flipped over and grabbed V's claw, keeping herself attached so she wouldn't lose V, she got into a position where she could claw at V and throw fire, while V's fire wouldn't be directed at R. She then pulled V into a spiral to throw her on the ground, getting V's weight to help her. Notice M flew off like a boss when V hit the ground. A smaller dragon probably would've been killed in that maneuver. V was just too big and didn't take enough damage. I honestly think R was leaving after that, she saw she couldn't win, they were headed out to sea while watching for V, they just didn't factor in that such a big dragon could hide behind the cliff face next to the castle.

MamaSeesa

I love the symbolism in this episode when Aegon is brooding in his chambers. Before he jumps up to go to his dragon, he slowly pushes a golden glass pitcher, decorated with a dragon, off the edge of the table and lets it smash to the ground. His dragon, Sunfyre the Golden, is renowned for being the most beautiful dragon. And just like the golden dragon on the pitcher, it crashes to the ground. I do think that Rhaenys and Meleys had a fair chance against Vhagar if had just been the two of them. Meleys is was known as the fastest dragon, and she did get some good digs into Vhagar. But Meleys had already been battling with Sunfyre. And when she tangled with Vhagar she got caught on Vhagar’s claw. But of course, the ultimate doom for Rhaenys and Meleys was when Aemond and Vhagar ambushed them as they were flying over the castle.

Thank you, Lord Evans, for your most generous gift of Dragon videos these last days. One could easily become accustomed to such spoils, but, alas, we know it is not meant to be. Unless, mayhaps, you have already binged the last episodes and are currently at work preparing your footage? But seriously you make me laugh out loud. My 14 year old son and his friend heard me laughing at my phone the other day and I heard my son tell his friend “some gay guy from England she’s obsessed with.” The best part is the friend said “My Mom is obsessed with gay guys too.” 😛😂❤️👏🏻🥳

The Emerald Duchess

We all wanted dragon war but christ, I was a mess after this episode! 😭

Kelly Kehoe Nichols

So much to be sad about after this episode! The first time I saw the dragons go at each other I burst into tears. I know it's CGI but it still really got to me. Regarding Aegon, I do think once he was crowned -- and had been convinced that his father had changed his mind on his deathbed -- that he wanted to do a good job as king. You could see that he was trying to be kind to the subjects petitioning him and that he wanted to be part of the decision-making process -- he just had no idea of how to actually go about it. He had zero training, didn't have a strategic mind, had a terrible temper, and treated his councillors poorly. I do think, though, that he took it as seriously as he was capable of taking anything. He just sucked at it. I don't like him and don't think he should be king, but I sympathize with his position. Neither of his parents (or his grandfather) ever took much interest or showed him any real affection throughout his entire childhood and then they gave him a crown and a kingdom. They knew his personality. Could they have honestly thought he would just sit quietly and take the time to learn? He was a pawn.

The episode where we all realized that actually…nope I don’t wanna watch dragons fight. Rhaenys is my favorite character, she was a warrior. I hate that she’s one of the first to go.

Amanda Hill

Aegons dragon sunfire is by far my favorite looking dragon she was affectionate towards aegon as she was placed in aegons cradle as a baby so they have a strong bond. When sunfire fell from the sky she flipped round so the impact would mainly affect her belly and save aegon by being crushed by her. Very sad
