2024-12-16 17:13:24 +0000 UTCSo each Targaryen has a dragon egg placed in their cradle with them when they’re babies. Like Laena was saying to Rhaena, many of them never hatch. If they don’t hatch, then yes they can try to claim an unclaimed dragon but the dragon has to “allow” that. This will be very important going forward. I can call out when she’s wrong but I will also defend Rhaenyra’s rights and wrongs. Time and time again she is put in shit positions. She does what she can with the hand she is dealt. Viserys really pisses me off because in the previous episode we see his convo with his Hand, Lord Lionel Strong, about how he’s never had to deal with anything difficult. That’s because he *avoids* everything difficult. His inaction and horrible decision-making is what leads to this very uncomfy and hostile dynamic. He let himself be coerced by Otto’s scheming, making himself and his family vulnerable to utter ruin.

Lionel (the hand) stopped himself too when he said "in defense of your.." When Jace asks Rheynera about his parentage is the first time anyone uses the B word and it comes from the boy himself. It's so poetic I love it. Really clever.

It’s so weird seeing people react to the series for the first time because he starts out as such a likeable guy and then just becomes such a douchebag so quickly. Season 1 from this episode on is so good! Except the next episode is really dark, not in terms of subject matter, I mean it’s hard to see some of what’s happening on the screen because it’s dark. My only complaint with respect to season 1.
