The one thing that everyone, including Otto, gets wrong about Daemon is assuming the primary reason for this actions is power. He’s just looking for attention from his brother. All he’s ever wanted is his brother’s love and approval, which he doesn’t feel he’s ever had, so he acts out.

Plus the books usually have family trees included so that you can refer to the lineage of each house as you're reading so it's a lovely way to pay homage to that too
