I do wonder if the various ST show writing teams looked back on episodes like this and thought they could 'fix' the story, or mine it for the basis of another story. Obviously I'm limited by the spoiler guidelines, but this episode has at least some resemblance to a mid-first season story for another ST show.....even one faction's costumes are somewhat similar.

2024-06-03 00:22:32 +0000 UTCGeneral consensus by fans at the time the episode first aired was that it was way over the top for Riker to vaporize Yuta. They could have just done the "That Which Survives" thing and blocked her way. I suppose drama wins out over sense in this case.
