⚠ Changing Subscriptions & YTD Update ⚠

Moving forward all subscriptions will be made cheaper.

This is the TLDR:

  • 10$ / Month -> 6$ / Month

• Story:

  • "Alchimia Rex" and "Gamma Protocol" will keep running

Other than this, all current benefits and chapter access will remain the same.

The not-TLDR:

The Year so Far:

At the start of the year, I made a post about disabling yearly subscription due to me having a time-limit. I either reach a stable 1,800$ / Month earning by the end of the year, or I'll have to look for a partial/full-time job (after which, all bets are off on my capacity to create content).

This has been my progress:

Growth starting in April was when I started publishing Gamma Protocol in Royal Road, and that June spike being due to single-time subscription from people who hopped in and immediately cancelled.

Still, I can consider Gamma Protocol has been an ongoing success, even if not one as large as I'd been hoping for.

So What Now?

So now I apply the lessons I've learned.

First:

Reducing subscription costs.

Yes, this reduction means I will be almost halving my income overnight, and that I would need way more subscribers to join to be able to reach my goal. Thing is, if the tiers are at a point where most people only see interest in a one-time pump-and-dump, it's not sustainable for me (and will just promote piracy in the long run).

Way I see it, I have 4 months left to reach my goal, and though the pay-cut will hurt, I've got enough to stay alive until I either succeed or start looking for work outside of writing.

Second:

My Next Story

To be clear, neither Gamma Protocol nor Alchimia will be cancelled. I will, however, start work on my next story. This means that sooner or latter Gamma Protocol will start slowing down.

Of course, you guys will be having access to the new story (with Gold/Platinum members having access to the early prototype, so they'll be able to give feedback xP).

Third:

Other Extra Content?

I've been looking into AI-image generation, and had been testing around with it a bunch.

Right now there's nothing concrete in place, but I've been thinking about possibly starting to publish tiny "Picture + Character snippet" from complete random people from the various stories. (Think "This is an Elf in bum-fuck nowhere in Alchimia setting, and she gets a tiny 200-word snippet about her life" kind of stuff). Maybe even a few polls over themes for that.

Would you guys be interested in such a thing?

I know the post sounds kinda not-too-happy, but I can't stress enough that something like this is the sort of risk I would've been entirely unable to take this same date last year. You guys have been of immense help, and even if I don't reach my goal, I can say that these past few years of writing my heart out have been the best I've ever had.

So I've got my fingers crossed and am hoping we can keep going!
