Whew...this last episode got me this morning 😭😭😭It's so beautifully, hauntingly, poetic. No shade to Hill House but Bly Manor is masterpiece ✨🤌✨

We should all be so lucky to have a Jamie by our side. And a Dani. And an Owen. And a Hannah. Everyone always thinks that Dani can't leave Bly... but the "it's you, it's me, it's us" invitation is a permanent merge. It's the only way for the dead to leave the grounds... because your spirit is now anchored to a living person. That's why Peter pushed for Miles and Flora to fully invite him & Rebecca in with that invocation. It would make them permanently merged and in control... living as 'Miles' and 'Flora'. So many great details like: when Dani merges with Viola... one of her eyes turns brown like Viola's. I think the difference in taking control is that the kids were young and easily tucked away... with Peter still having a strong will and sense of self. Whereas with Dani & Viola... Dani could hold onto herself longer because Viola had faded to just base emotions. But knowing that Viola would eventually wear her down because she will. not. go. Also... Before Henry returns to the land of the living... Hannah tells him: "When he checks the well, please tell Owen I’m sorry, tell him I love him. And the rest.. well .. it’s just...." Confetti. The rest is confetti. A lovely nod to Nell's line to her family in the end of Hill House. I look at it like this... it's a real story that Jamie tweaked for 'Flora' and 'Miles's sake. Those aren't their real names. To be cheeky, she did use the bride's middle name. It protects them... while still keeping 'Dani's memory alive. What we were seeing was a re-enactment playing out via older 'Jamie's storytelling. The way we would imagine the story playing in our minds as we listen (or read). Older 'Owen' and older 'Henry' know what she's doing... hence the looks that they give older 'Jamie'. And that is how they really appear. The versions in the story were just like when any real story is dramatized... better looking versions play the parts. In the end... the house wasn't evil, the kids weren't evil, the spirits ~other than Peter~ weren't harmful. It was just Viola and her mindless, possessive rage. And... as bittersweet as it was... Dani & Jamie had the longest and healthiest relationship of all. I just absolutely love everything about this series.

Miles was there with Owen at the end. I think you were too focused on Owen's reveal to notice kid Miles standing at the table as well. Also their appearances didn't match on purpose. The Gardener intentionally used different names and different appearances so that Miles and Flora wouldn't recognize anything in the story. In the beginning you can see Old Owen kind of defensive around Jamie because he was afraid she'd say something out of turn, when he and Henry had agreed not to tell the kids about what really happened at the manor. So Jamie changed the names and the appearances but told the story because she felt Dani deserved having her story told given that she sacrificed herself for them. So yeah it's a little confusing how the older versions look nothing like the younger versions but it was an intentional choice to make it that way. I love this story and I'm glad you did too! I love Dani and Jamie so much. Additional note. The details left in the show are so crazy because all those other ghosts of people Viola killed over the years can be seen at the manor in every single episode. The Plague Doctor, The Vicar, A solder, the child. they pop up in all sorts of places in sneaky ways. My friend and I caught them early so when Viola's story was told it was such a wild reveal. Also the dolls and the doll house were a bit of a red herring but the clever thing about them is, it was the faceless child who was constantly moving the dolls. the child would move the dolls into different places in the doll house so that Flora could tell where everyone is. This is how Flora always knew when Viola was in the house because the child would put her there as a warning. Despite not being able to talk the child and flora came up with asystem to keep tabs on every ghost in the manor. With this knowledge you can even see the peter doll is always in the same room as the miles doll just like the Ms Jessel doll is always in the same room as flora, hinting/foreshadowing the fact that they are constantly possessing them.

Young Miles was sitting with Owen at the end at the table. He was there. But loved this show. Glad I got to watch it with ya'll!

Episode 8 is one of my favorite episodes. I love the backstory of Viola becoming the Lady in the Lake. It's so nicely portrayed in the episode. I know some people didn't like Bly Manor but for me it's still a great series and great story. Every series in the Flanaverse has it's own charm and is great in it's own way.

Bly Manor isn't as shiny as Hill House or Midnight Mass... but it's easily my favorite. Like it's said in the end... ultimately, it's a love story. It's been a joy to watch along with you. (It's been perfectly splendid! lol) I appreciate that it is less true scares, more psychological hauntings. And there's a lot of great emotional depth here. Parallels to drifting away in dementia, parallels between ghost possession and unhealthy possessive love. Unselfish love is worth the effort. Early in the 1st episode... when Dani approaches Henry in the pub, after the failed interview... Dani says she wants the au pair position because she didn't feel like she had any impact previously teaching large classrooms of students. But that maybe if she could just have impact on a couple of children's lives...then she'd be fulfilled. "Maybe I can make a difference. I could. I could make a difference. A real difference. With just two." And Dani did just that... in the greatest, most compassionate way possible. And then Jamie told Dani's story... changing the names and events just enough... so they'd know it, know Dani's sacrifice... while still protecting them. Beautiful.

Shame on yall for tempting me to stay up late to finish this show, lol! Jk. I'll be back when I wake up. Excited to find out what's coming next week - doesn't matter what it is, I just like the anticipation 🫶
