Great movie! Watched it couple of times already but was glad to watch it once again. Was glad to learn that Rob is such a fan of the original movie. Regarding why US was out-teched here - they gave a brief explanation during mission planning saying that area is GPS jammed and that's why their latest F-35 jets are not an option and they have to use older tech with laser guided bombs.

It has just the right amount of respect for the original, yet also holds up on its own as a great watch. BTW, Manny Jacinto (Jason Mendoza from The Good Place) is one of the other pilots in training...he's in the background in some shots...didn't even realize he was even in this.

I think it’s so funny they gave Penny Benjamin (”the admiral’s daughter”) a role in this one. If you know you know 🛫 Also the music is iconic.

2024-12-01 08:23:13 +0000 UTCgreat sequel. I think you got it by the end of the movie but the technological advancement of the enemy was just the 5th gen's vs the f-18. The US still has the f35 and f22 5th gens. And the maneuver the enemy 5th gen performed is realistic but not to avoid missile fire. The plane would have been toast because it basically erased all the plane's angular velocity and made it a stationary target. Still makes for a great cinematic shot though.

2024-12-01 06:30:48 +0000 UTCI did read that they couldn’t have used our 5th gen fighters because they are single seaters - and there would have been no way to get the inside cockpit shots, making it look like the actors were truly flying. It also makes us look like the underdogs and gives off a “we can still kick ass with inferior jets” vibe. (There was also a rumor that the military didn’t want high definition footage of the inside and outside our best planes on film — but again that is just a rumor. 😉)

I gave up on this movie because it never got anywhere in the polls and when I saw this surprise tonight, I changed my plans just so I could sit here and watch it with you! I am soooo happy! I can watch this movie over and over and not get tired of it! You two made my night! LOL

2024-12-01 06:11:21 +0000 UTCThe 5th gen fighters used in the movie are SU-57 Felons, which are Russian, even though the enemy is not Russian in the movie. They could've just had a single F-22 come in, and do the job no problem, or a B-2 could've just dropped a bomb on the target, but I guess that doesn't make as good a movie, lol. Not dissing this movie at all by the way, still freakin love it, and a nice end of month surprise!
