I guess I’m the Odd one out who was so grateful you had Subtitles off! It’s fine if you need them, but a lot of people prefer to Watch a movie instead of Reading the movie. Besides, the subtitles are just a constant distraction from what’s actually going on!

2025-01-11 03:58:07 +0000 UTCCame to watch this after seeing the reaction to Tucker and Dale, they are both silly fun takes on the "Cabin in the Woods" horror trope but I really love the like eldritch horror slant to this movie and it is always fun watching someone new to it react because I think most folks weren't ready for the way this movie went. For old heads who are familiar with all of the horror tropes it is fun to hunt for all the references. This movie predates The Purge films but the masked suited murder squad made me think of them.

The idea that all these terrible and ridiculous things, as well as the final girl, happen in horror movies because it's a rigged system. Which it is. Is hilariously irreverent. And Fran Kranz, who's a Whedon staple like Amy Acker, was epic as Marty. (He also stars in another campy fun meta horror movie called 'You Might Be the Killer' with Alyson Hannigan.)

2023-10-06 06:15:34 +0000 UTCI don't know if this helps, but if I can access the same movies/shows on streaming that Rob & Trin are viewing, I turn it on and - with a little stopping and starting - sync together. That way I can hear the audio or turn on the subtitles.

I wish you could have found a different version cause it Definitely takes away from the movie and the surprises. Like this was my least favorite viewing of this movie because of it. For future reference I feel like you guys should absolutely stop the movie and find a better version of it. :/ I'm sorry you guys were so bummed by it. Joss whedon is so good at creating crazy situations. If you even remotely liked this you guys would love the series dollhouse. Which stars Marty and the Dr chemist lady as well.

He’s the only one trying to avoid the classic horror movie tropes by saying they shouldn’t go in the basement and that they shouldn’t be reading the Latin. He just wanted to have a nice weekend and he ends up uncovering a cult serving literal gods
