The Mist (2007) - Movie Reaction!

Comments

You didn't notice another TWD character in this movie.... Morales, he even has the same name. So many TWD characters in this one movie.

Korivex

This was not the ending that Stephen King wrote for his story. The director of this film came up with his own alternate ending.

Jan T

Was an interesting film, though I agree the ending is rough. I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned, but Darabont and the crew were so impressed with Melissa McBride's acting in her small scene as the mother, considering she was little-known as an actor, it helped her get cast as Carol (and the rest is history).

Alyssa F

I was going to comment this but you beat me to it! Love Stephen King.

Carrie Petty

I voted for this because I had not seen and heard good things. lol I hated it. I love Stephen King, like LOVE him. So I'm shocked at how much I need to take 2 handball size prozacs and go to bed. Loved all the actors tho!

Annie Bonz

I didn't vote for this movie... not because it's a bad movie, but because the ending doesn't suit the reactor's sensibilities. People should keep that in mind more. I'm just glad that you saved Zombieland for last.

Wendy Sparks

Not a big SK fan but I really enjoyed this.

Sherylin Johnson

If you wright it we will react to it 💖

Was there a TV series based on this? I'm sure I've seen something very similar with ppl held up in a shopping mall and a religious woman who goes outside and isn't attacked or did I dream this up before Stephen King 🤣 I never seen this film before, weirdly I think if I was reading it as a book I would have been OK with the ending but not ok with it ending that way in the film. Very interesting , thank you for creeping me out, I will not be sleeping tonight for fear of spiders and Mist.

@AmethystRock

Totally get the frustration, yet I do kinda like this one in a weird way. A really really weid way though. The woman In the store is such an annoyance, the whole story in the store is just mind bending in a bad way, but still, the ending Is a bit stupid but perfect in a depressing way. Yeah, if he waited a bit longer they would all be saved, but they didn't as they felt the situation was hopeless as there was no sign of any positive change, so I get that. But still. The only real fun thing about this movie would be all of the 'oh hey that's Dale, that's Andrea and hey that's that guy'. I'll keep it at 'there were better options in the poll' ;-)

This is one of my favourite endings of any movie or show, because I am a big proponent of bad and/or tragic endings to movies. Yes, it is depressing and a downer, but personally I often experience a sort of stillness and clarity after endings like that, not to mention that such endings can be absolutely brilliant like in this movie (I know some people disagree, but that's down to personal taste I guess). For example, and completely unrelatedly (Game of Thrones spoilers ahead), I think that an amazing alternative ending to Game of Thrones would have been one of two options - 1. Dany, Jon and the rest defeat the night king, but instead of magically recovering their entire army, they are left completely decimated and as a result Cersei ends up in undisputed control of the seven kingdoms. 2. and my favourite: The years of civil war and Dany's invasion and their inability to unite against the night king leads to him completely decimating westeros with Jon and Dany making a final stand somewhere in Dorne, where Jon is forced to kill Dany in order to gain the power needed to slay the night king, as per the prophecy. So westeros is almost totally destroyed apart from whatever survivors are left in Dorne after that, so you have kind of a phyrric victory where the good guys win, but only after losing everything.

With how hopeless and dire the situation felt in a world of seemingly never ending mist, I found the actions taken at the end made perfect sense despite how horrible they may be. You couldn’t all survive walking a few hundred yards, they travelled hundreds of miles and were unaware of where they were, with no sign of rescue.. no source of food or water. They could hear themselves surrounded.. I couldn’t see myself handling that any differently, and that’s what makes it so disturbing. Amazingly well-written in how suddenly rescue became a worse fate than death.

Lewis

They prob recognised him as Crashdown from BSG in that case as he was dude in tank on TWD

lemmy101

Carol then proceeds to move to Atlanta where she moves in with her new abusive husband and daughter only to find herself caught in another crazy apocalypse!

Mecoy Carmine

The soldier you guys recognized (makeup face) was in Walking Dead Episode 1 as the zombie soldier in the tank with Rick.

Driver ED

I hate that ending lol. Like why not just wait? If something comes to eat them, then make that choice

james moore

Also the Military guy that they kill towards the end was the Tank walker(Season 1)& Lead guys wife is the real life mother of Madison Lintz(Sophia)so lots of Walking Dead connections in this film!!

Heather Baker

I literally warned you that this was super depressing. I was mad that they had you react to this. The only cool thing is how many twd actors are in this... I always forget morales plays morales in this movie. Haha you guys didn't even recognize him.

Angelina Sargent

I looked it up and The Fog was a movie from 1980. However, the next thing on Google was "The Fog/The Mist" so, I think a lot of people say either or?

Carrie Petty

I will start by saying I did not vote for this. I voted for a simple possession movie The Conjuring. I have read many Stephen King books & enjoy them but I had not read this one. Iwatched this when my son's were 3 & not even 1. I remember because this left me feeling so awful at the end I did not watch a horror movie for years after & I had always loved scary movies. I did watch it with you and knew you were going to be frustrated at the end. It really is not a horrible movie but yeah it was a downer. I am glad you have Zombieland next, it's a good one and I'm sure you two will like it.

Margaret

We had Morales (S1 Atlanta Camp) as one of the Military guys, Carol, Dale & Andrea in this film! Frank Darabont helped with the first 2 seasons of TWD & a fair number of Stephen King films too. The main lead guy in this film also was in talks to play Rick before Andrew Lincoln had been cast as well.

Jack's World

In a cool turn of events, this is not the ending that Stephen King wrote for his story. When the director revealed what he wanted to do with it, King himself said it was a better ending that his own.

Keith Duperreault

The one guy starting lighting all the lamps in the store when the larger creatures started flying in and picking the smaller bugs off the front window... he was in the back of the store turning them all on, when Ollie realized they were attracted to the light. At the front of the store, they were saying to put the lights out, and that guy, unknowing, was still running through the aisles switching them on.

Keith Duperreault

Could only watch 1/2 hour before I have to go to work, but just wanted to throw in that the lead actor is who they originally wanted to play Rick Grimes.

Jennifer Newton

Welp, you two have officially ruined my sleep schedule. This was uploaded at 2 a.m. my time, but I had to watch it, lol! There were so many "Walking Dead" people in this movie because it was directed by Frank Darabont, and he developed the first couple of seasons. Sounds like you might have to add "The Shining" to your future!

Thoma

lmao, just stay out of the mist 😂
