2022-01-04 21:43:01 +0000 UTCYeah it is interesting how this episode can divide people on a character but I can't help but think of this episode as a story device and then (as with Kate) have to throw logic out the window to some degree. Yeah we agree on almost everything but it doesn't make either of us wrong because with LOST (so far) It seems to be open to interpretation by design :). Man I am loving the journey with the channel and the discussions it can bring up <3 Thanks Michelle :)

Pardon my paragraph but I got some THOUGHTS😜 I felt terribly bad for Charlie when he had the vision and suddenly had the baby, I can’t even imagine how scary that would. Gotta be even horrifying tho for the people knowing he snagged the baby by the water, because whether he did it on purpose or not you would be afraid of that happening again.. I felt bummed John didn’t believe Charlie about his dream but rewatching Charlie barely even explains to him and when John openly gives him mutiple chances to come clean, he lies about not having the drugs and burning them and still doesn’t give a direct answer about using or not... which is valid to be suspicious, especially when he was a heavy addict coming to the island. And if your going to be around a baby you got to be safe. I really feel for Charlie with the dreams but he needed to take a step back and rly be open and admit everything. And then when Charlie comes yelling at Claire against her wishes all hyped up and crazy like John sees that..and that’s when Charlie is completely vivid so it’s his own choices. I can see why Charlie was panicked to help, but he went about it very immaturely Then when locke decides to help Claire and keep her safe by moving closer to her tent, john didn’t show her Charlie’s statues which was very kind of him. Then Charlie sets a fire that could have blazed through the whole camp, kidnaps the baby fully awake, and brings it towards the water.. I think anyone would have decked him to the ground a few times with that heightened emotion.. plus I think all the chances locke was trying to give him throughout kind of hit a head.. I don’t like how things went down but I can understand. Honestly its just a bummer of an episode, well done, but not uplifting in any way and just frustrating in every character sense lol. Many viewers try to block this one out😋 And i felt bad for Charlie getting screwed by his brother! I understand Liam wanting to fix things so he didn’t lose his daughter.. but he could have consulted with Charlie first and not threw him to the wolf’s.. so effed up. But anywho very astute observations in your reaction and now actually watching it over all I think we agreed with actually most things!;) Just such a bummerrr man lol.

2022-01-02 18:23:21 +0000 UTCOk so before you guys get on with the awesome latter half of the season, here’s some spoiler-free points on this episode - which I personally can’t stand, because of the sheer creepiness factor of kidnapping a baby in your sleep, and being done by my poor misguided boy Charlie nonetheless. The island is really doing him dirty with these visions. - Day 54-56 on the island. - During Charlie's dream, when his mother and Claire are on the beach, the Nigerian drug smugglers' plane can be seen about to crash into the jungle (and fun fact: this is only visible in the widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio; the plane is cut off in the 4:3 version, which a lot of people still had on their TVs back in 2006). - His dream/vision is based on Verrocchio’s painting «The Baptism of Christ»

If Locke is right and the island tests people, then *of course* this is Charlie's test. On the other hand, Charlie did bring a lot of suspicion on himself through his initial dishonesty... Sad situation all around.

One thing that really irked me, and idk why they'd misquote the Bible... what Eko said... John the Baptist did see the heavens, sky, open up. But he never said Jesus had sin. Quite the opposite. That's when he knew Jesus was without sin. Only line in the whole show that bothered me. And nowhere does it say that baptism assures you go to heaven. It's purely a symbol.

And your assessment of Liam.. most spot on description I've heard a YouTuber say. The piano thing is where I truly sympathized with Charlie the most. What a crappy brother.
