The Shrink Ray

Just a quickie about a shrink ray

+++

Passing the time, Bob unwrapped a chocolate bar he had stashed in the dashboard of his shrunken car.

He was glad that it had shrunken, along with his car, when his girlfriend, Eileen, decided it was time to test her company's latest invention on him.

Bob remembered laughing at her during their movie night just two days ago, unable to believe such a thing existed.

Now, as he stood in front of his tiny vehicle, he couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and fear at the power of Eileen's invention.

The chocolate melted in his mouth, filling it with rich, sugary sweetness as he contemplated what he would do next to kill time.

Regret gnawed at Bob's conscience as he realized the consequences of his lack of restraint. Eileen had bragged to him about her mother's research department and how they were on the brink of developing a groundbreaking device. The excitement and passion in her voice had been palpable, but Bob had brushed it off without giving it a second thought, making a fool of her.

Bob had never imagined something so ludicrous as a shrink ray could be invented. When Eileen showed it to him, it seemed like a prop from a science fiction movie, not an actual invention.

Eileen gave him a mischievous smile and issued a challenge: if she could successfully shrink him down, he would have to spend a whole week at her beck and call, performing menial tasks as her tiny servant. But if she failed, she would be at Bob's mercy for the rest of the week. The stakes were high, and Bob couldn't resist the thrill of the dare. Little did he know what he was getting himself into with this reckless game of science and power.

"You're on!" Bob had said with a cold beer in hand.

But just as he was about to take a sip of his drink, everything changed.

He barely had time to register the danger before Eileen's finger squeezed the trigger, and a bright light erupted from the shrink ray in her hand. The world around him seemed to twist and distort, colors merging and shapes warping in front of his eyes. The sensation was unlike anything he had ever felt - a strange mix of vertigo and weightlessness. And just like that, he found himself shrinking, getting smaller and smaller until he was no bigger than a mouse. It was both exhilarating and terrifying for him to experience life at such a small size.

Bob's neck strained as he tilted his head up to meet the gaze of his girlfriend, who now towered over him like a mountain. Her booming laughter shook the couch beneath them, causing it to tremble and quake like an earthquake in Bob's miniature world. He couldn't help but feel both amazed and terrified at how powerful Eileen was compared to his tiny self.

That was two days ago, and he was still stuck doing chores for Eileen for at least five days. That wasn't even the worst of the ordeal. Bob was commanded by his now gigantic girlfriend to bring objects to her that were far too heavy to carry for him, like a pencil or her car key.

Two days had passed, and Bob was still trapped in the endless cycle of chores for Eileen, a punishment that would last at least five more days. The real struggle, however, was the unbearable boredom that came with being so tiny and helpless under Eileen's control. Each day dragged on like an eternity as he fulfilled her every whim and desire.

Eileen brought him with her to her workplace. She carefully placed him on an empty table and sternly instructed him to stay put. Most of the time, he found himself with nothing to do but watch his mountain of a girlfriend as she expertly typed away on her laptop and mumbled to herself with a groan of frustration from time to time. He marveled at how her fingers danced across the keys, a flurry of movement and efficiency.

To bring him some entertainment, Eileen had miniaturized his beloved car, transforming it into a tiny, roaring machine.

Now, Bob couldn't contain his excitement with the tiny vehicle zipping around on the table. But as he recklessly maneuvered the car, he came dangerously close to the edge of the surface. Eileen's heart skipped a beat as she saw him and his prized possession almost tumbling over the edge and into oblivion.

Eileen had warned him about such reckless behavior, threatening to shrink him and his car even smaller if he didn't listen.

"Is that even possible?" Bob had said.

Eileen's confident response was unwavering. "You bet it is!"

Bob lay low from that moment on, fearing to be shrunk down even smaller, to end up as a speck who had to fear for his life when being face to face with an ant.

Bob jumped in surprise as the massive door of Eileen's office swung open with a resounding creak. He anticipated seeing Eileen strolling in, her trademark sexy office attire on display. But to his surprise, another woman sashayed into the room. She was a young girl, no more than twenty years old, with her chestnut hair elegantly pulled up and gentle, doe-like eyes. Bob recognized her as Linzy from the research department. His attention was immediately drawn to her stunning appearance, causing him to miss what she was holding in her hand.

The moment the girl placed the object on the table, Bob noticed it.

He sprang into action, darting away like a shadow before her hand could come crashing down on him.

The girl's sheer size was overwhelming, and her hand seemed to blot out the sky as it descended towards him.

He barely managed to scramble out of the way just in time to avoid being crushed by the object that was placed on the table.

There," Lindsy said. After running away, Bob turned to see what the girl had placed on the table with such care. She gently set the object down and took a deep breath.

It was a ship, a mighty vessel that normally sliced through the ocean with ease, carrying thousands of containers. Now, it was no bigger than a toy that could be carried around in one hand by some chick.

Its hull gleamed in the light, blinding Bob's eyes and reflecting back shimmering blue and green hues.

These things are normally massive, but compared to Bob, this thing appeared small, perhaps twice the size of his car, which was precisely altered to his pitiful size.

The young girl straightened her back, standing to her full height. She noticed tiny Bob sitting at the edge of the table, her kind eyes filled with guilt.

With a gentle smile, she leaned closer and met his gaze with her warm, friendly eyes. "My apologies, little one. I didn't see you there," she said softly, her voice as delicate as a butterfly's wings.

"What's this?" Bob's eyes took in the cargo ship before him.

"This, my dear tiny little man," she said, gesturing towards the ship with pride in her voice. "Is the latest breakthrough of our scientific project."

Bob couldn't believe his eyes. "That...used to be a real ship?"

The girl nodded. "It still is, only on a far smaller scale. It belongs to a one-percenter."

"And does this 'one-percenter' know that his ship is here?"

With a nod, the girl adjusted her dress, smoothing out any wrinkles and making sure it was perfectly in place. "He's our main funder for this project," she explained. "He sees it as an opportunity to revolutionize logistics, especially when it comes to transporting bulky goods over long distances - something that currently requires ships like these."

The girl bent over, her long hair cascading down to brush against the table as she scrutinized the shrunken ship from up close, her eyes peeking in the tiny windows.

The ship, which typically had enough space for thousands of containers carrying tens of thousands of pounds of weight, was now nothing more than an object that some slender girl could carry.

"That's great," Bob said.

Lindsy glanced around cautiously before focusing her attention on Bob, leaning in closer to him. "But if you want my opinion," she whispered conspiratorially, "I think your girlfriend has much bigger plans than just revolutionizing things."

The door swung open, startling Lindsy and Bob. Eileen sauntered in with the air of someone who knew she was in charge. Her eyes lit up when she noticed the ship. "It worked?" she eyed Lindsy.

Lindsy nodded with joy.

Bob saw her gigantic figure approaching the desk, looming over him. Her gigantic hand reached out, and she lifted the ship. There was a glint of glee in her eyes as she observed the ship from all sides.
