Conway's Stance on Fan Art

Hey hey,

I've recently have been asked a little more regularly if doing this or that is fine with the Conway characters, and so I figured making a simple post about it would provide an easy answer there.

HOWEVER, keep in mind that the minor characters are often characters of supporters. So they are obviously not included in these rules.

These rules apply only to the following characters:
Arthur
James/MC
Julian
Nomax
Rajeeyah
Samuel
Wolf
Bandile
Konrad
Perce
Torres
René

Can I make fan art (visual, writing, etc.) with the characters?
Yes, you are free to create any kind of art with them. Typically you don't have to ask permission or anything of the sort. Draw, write, sculpt, sew or do whatever else that your heart desires.

What about Nomax?
Yes, this also includes Nomax. I know the situation is a bit different there, as he is my fursona as well as part of the game. But yes, I am not overly precious there. As long as it's not like, a fursuit or something, where it ends up getting into the realm of a potential imitation of me.
If in doubt you can always ask.

What about NSFW art?
Yes, go nuts you sicko. This also includes things like Sona x Conway Character.

Can I make money with the fan art Make?
This one has a bit of nuance to it, but generally yes, let's make a little list to clear up some of the common ones. Of course this explicitly talks about the art that you create.

Commissions (Selling or buying): Always allowed, and it's fine to commission others.

Merchandise (Stickers, Prints, etc.): Always allowed.

Digital Goods (High Resolution Art, Patreon, VR Chat Avatar, etc.): Always allowed

Stories/Books (Print, Digital, Audiobook): Always allowed

Basically all the common artistic endevours in the fandom are allowed. Only times we would want to be informed and have some discussion is when it starts to become a larger scale project.
Such as deciding to make a Visual Novel (or any other game) for example.

And of course as long as it's not trying to be deceptive. Such as trying to appear as official media, have a patreon appear to be part of the team, or the above mentioned fursuit example, where a Nomax suit could lead to people assuming it's me when it's not.

And of course, if in doubt you can still always ask.

Comments

Anything works. I'm not very particular about it. So, just go with whatever your heart desires :D

How do you want attribution to be handled? If we post on social media do you want people to use a #, or link to patreon or itch? Or just your handle?

Yeh, in the end my thoughts on it are that if you made it, then you should be allowed to make money with it. At least within the confines of the furry fandom. Of course when greater capitalist interests join that would be a different thing, but as for our size if someone's selling stickers of their drawings at a con or something then go for it. They put time into it and if people enjoy those stickers? Then why not?

Nomax

Wow, this is a VERY generous and lenient stance! :D
