Doctor Who 7x2 Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

I cannot tell you how much I loved the humour in this episode! Well, I'm sure you'll find out soon enough as I laughed most of the way through it! It was SO FUNNY. The humour in Doctor Who has always been evident, however I'm noticing the 11th Doctor seems to be a natural comedian. I'm unsure if he means half the jokes he says, but I'm always so tickled, perfectly, and it just speaks to my quirky side! Love it!

Some of my fave lines are:

- Is that a kestrel? I really do hope so!

- You don't have any vegetable matter in your trousers, do you, Brian? Only my balls.

I vote yes to having a gang more often 😊

Doctor Who 7x2 Dinosaurs on a Spaceship

Comments

I was among the first to rage at the writer of this episode way back in the woeful constructed-of-bits-of-dank-beach-string '42'. Seriously I was a grown man in a rage. And he did far worse since then. I'm happy I had none of these feelings for 'Dinosaurs'. It's fun, colourful, and silly in all the right places. Those attributes go a long way. It's maybe his best entry on Doctor Who and one of the highlights of these first five episodes. (They were informally known as Series 7a ending Sept 2012, with Series 7b coming around at the end of March 2013 so it did feel like a wait) Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to rewatching Dinosaurs with you taking some joy in it.

The Doctor has already killed a large number of evil people. Most of those people were aliens so it feels a little different when the evil looks human. IMO, Solomon was more evil than the Family of Blood, or the Cybermen, or even the Vampires of Venice.

Just to clarify, nothing says the Doctor has been by himself for 10 months. It's just that it's been 10 months for Amy and Rory since they last saw the Doctor. For the Doctor, it could've been 5 minutes or 500 years since he last saw them. Just like in A Christmas Carol. For Kazran it was always 1 year since he saw the Doctor, but for the Doctor, it was minutes. He even said himself to Kazran, "see you in a minute, I mean a year".

Agreed. Love the humour in this episode. Matt Smith is very good at being quirky-funny which suits the Doctor perfectly. Some of my favourite Jules lines from this video include; "Just some random electrician has come along! Oh that's his dad! Sorry! Sorry Rory!" "Well I don't really know much about dinosaurs I've never seen one in real life" Very entertaining reaction Juliette, thanks for bringing some fun to an otherwise uninteresting Wednesday evening 💜🤗

This is very much a fun episode, even though it also has Solomon as a serious and unpleasant villain. Nefertiti and Riddell were interesting supporting characters and helped build a picture of the friends the Doctor has made throughout time and space, while it was fun seeing the TARDIS materialise around the Ponds to pick them up, and Rory really should know better than to ask the Doctor why he doesn't do anything like a normal person. Oh and the Doctor kissing him wasn't scripted ;) I found it amusing when you said you'd never seen a dinosaur in real life and how there's a rather obvious reason for that, though I think I knew what you were trying to say about not seeing a skeleton or recreation in a museum or something. Actually Classic Who had a story when they inevitably had their own explanation as to what happened (and if you're making a list of older stories to check out, Earthshock should definitely be on there).
