Angel 4x4 Slouching Towards Bethlehem

Well, this went very differently to what I expected 😅 there are some funny moments in this episode, real laugh out loud parts, which I loved! Some hideous bits as well, which I just could not look at. Ew.

So, I'm very curious to see where this episode takes us. I'm just glad Cordelia has someone to help her through this time, though it's not at all who I thought it would be. At least she's not alone.

Ah, Neil, you're a brave one - sticking up for Connor there! I really don't think a lot of people like him, judging by the comments on youtube. I do miss the cute little baby, I will be honest! I have to laugh.... Here's me thinking my long walks and step counts were high. I'm over here, basking in the glory that I am the fittest person in the world, walking 7k once a week. And you come along - 30,000k steps in a day. No worries, mate! Easy 🤣 That is insane! Maybe don't do any exercise the next day haha! My last job I was on my feet a lot more. I've never felt so unhealthy than when I'm just sitting all day 😭 Have a wonderful rest of your week, Mr Neil 💜

I have so much opinion on this season as a whole but I should quiet my face-mouth until you're done. Where it does work for me is (mostly) the episodic. 'Slouching Toward Bethlehem' is a great title, and very much us into Season 4 proper, the last few episodes being epilogue/prologue. I cried for Lorne too. But with his fate as the centre of the story this time, there's not a lot to go on. The quiet before the storm. The WesLilah was entrancing and a deserved rug pull. Connor was not well liked in fandom and it was good to hear you put a positive note to his friendship with Cordelia here.

That is one complicated relationship. :)

A couple of trivia notes: The song Cordy sang for Lorne was the same one she sang in the high school talent show in season 1. The title 'Slouching Toward Bethlehem' is referencing a poem by W.B. Yeats which he wrote shorty after serving in the British army in WW1. The poem is 'The Second Coming' and the relevant final two lines are: "What rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches toward Bethlehem to be born." In Yeats' disillusionment with the post-war world, he is not referring to Christ, but rather to the Anti-Christ. Pleasant thoughts.

If you found that face splitting guy gross there's a certain vampire movie you may want to steer clear of. I would mention which one but... Spoilers! 😛 If I were in Cordelia's shoes I also would have chose to stay with Connor. I can understand Angel and the others not wanting to scare and overwhelm Cordelia by immediately telling her everything, but there's always so much weird stuff occurring and she was bound to be exposed to it. And, of course, that happened almost immediately and made them seem super untrustworthy in her eyes. Regarding Connor's misplaced hand, I just took it that he was sleeping and was unaware of what he was doing. Wesley & Lilah are certainly an interesting pairing. They realise they can never really trust one another but there does seem to be something more than simple lust between them. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how things progress. But you've got to hand it Lilah, she played Wesley very well in this episode. Thanks for another excellent reaction Juliette. Hope your week got off to a good start. (Completely of topic but somewhat related to those long walks you go on, I spent today walking around central London, doing just shy of 30,000 steps and my legs feel like jelly now. Every time I saw a flight of stairs ahead I wanted to cry 😭 They were already sore from exercising the previous day, just to sound a little less pathetic 😂)
