Upcoming Plans and Movie Recommendations!

Hello 💜😊 I hope you all are doing okay and have some nice things planned for the upcoming weekend! Take some time to do something for yourself that is healing for the mind, body and soul. I got a new kite (a kids one!) so maybe it will be windy enough to test this one out 🤪

I wanted to let you know about my tentative plans going forward, once we finish Buffy. I will of course be reacting to Angel Season 5 and then our Buffyverse journey is (mostly) over. I still have some plans for more Buffyverse content other than episode reactions, so I will eventually work on those!

Finishing up Buffy will mean a bit more time free per week, and I'd love to add some movie reactions to the channel. Movies won't be weekly at this stage, probably not until we finish up Angel as it takes me almost a whole day to edit a movie, but I'd at least like to have 1-2 a month if possible and build that up to more (weekly would be AMAZING and is a goal of mine).

Of course, we will still be watching Doctor Who, and I'm also thinking once we finish Buffy, I might be able to upload two Who episodes per week!

So I'm here to ask for your movie recommendations, if there's any movies you'd love for me to watch! I've seen most of the ones that get watched over and over on reaction channels like Lord of the Rings, Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, but I will admit I haven't seen a LOT of movies. I am primarily a gamer so most of my free time is spent playing games and not watching TV. There's a good chance I haven't seen your movie, so I am excited to see what you'd like me to watch!

I'm open for most things, however nothing too scary, gory or sexual. I don't mind a bit of jump scares as they can be fun sometimes. I loved the first Saw movie, but that was back when I was in my 20's and I think I can't handle that level anymore as I tried to watch it a few years ago and it was too much for me. What's happened in my old age 🤣 So maybe hold off on those types of suggestions haha. Anyway! Please suggest away as I'd love to start adding some movies to the channel 💜

Film wise, the original Disney Watcher in the Woods with Bette Davis. Creepy AF yet supposedly for kids. Original Taking of Pelham 123. Comedies: Spinal Tap. Baseketball. 2 Doctor Who's a week would be cool.

I'm not a movie buff myself but I would like to try a TV pitch? Press Gang (1989-1994), comedy-drama made for children with adult appeal. Written by Steven Moffat with a cracking cast of future stars. It had a HUGE impact on Britain in the 90s and I think most people outside the UK still don't get what a game-changer it was. As fresh, funny and moving as it was then. (43 x 25 min episodes) Box-set better but also on YT. And because I've brought up Moffat, have you considered his Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch? Three movie length episodes a series. Quite a lot of them, esp. Se 1-2, can be viewed as self-contained.

Andy Luke

Yeah and there's very much a sense of the Buffy experience about it. Put Cabin on your list :)

Andy Luke

Hello Juliette. What are your favorite movies of all time? Maybe that helps to find some recommendations fitting for your taste. Also,, do you feel like watching some interesting mini-series or do you prefer to focus purely on movies?

Kurt VC

2 Doctor who episodes per week potentially? Omg I would so happy if you did that lol :)

Ollie15

Yes, a selection of the fun episodes would be great. There are some real tongue in cheek, funny episodes out there!

Chris Green

That is true, Matt! If I thought that way about Doctor Who and Buffy and it put me off, then I'd never have experienced these amazing shows 🥰 definitely something to think about then!!

Juliette Gaming

oh and speaking of Helen Hunt, A River Wild,

Kimberly Bellow

Scott Pilgrim Vs the World

Nebraska

While it does fit in horror category I wouldn't classify it as scary, more suspenseful. Like, a little more horrorish than Buffy.

Nebraska

I miss your x-file reactions. I was thinking it’s maybe because where you’re at is a very depressing bunch of episodes? If so, you could just do the “fun” episodes. You can even watch them without the before and after episodes…

ClaryTehSage

It is a little scary for sure, but also funny?

ClaryTehSage

I have a few ideas for movies, but I don't know how many views you would get for them. Kelly's Heroes-A WW2 movie with Clint Eastwood planning to rob a German bank behind enemy lines....The Poseidon Adventure-An ocean liner is capsized by a tidal wave and the survivors look for a way to escape the sinking ship....Twister with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton...and Armageddon-Bruce Willis leads a team of oil drillers recruited to help stop an asteroid the size of Texas from hitting Earth. It has tons of plot-holes but is action sequence after action sequence and the cast is pretty good. Also Die Hard and Die Hard With a Vengeance, the best of the Die Hard movies.

On the one hand, yes - they're on lots of channels and some people would say the Marvel Cinematic Universe is responsible for a lot of superhero movie fatigue. On the other hand, those of us who love them also really love seeing our favourite reactors experience the genuine joy of discovering this universe for the first time. And on yet another hand, the same could be said about Doctor Who and Buffy. So many channels and reactors - but such beloved universes and characters and stories that we could never get tired of seeing new people discover them.

Aussie Mat

Any list with The Prestige, Stardust or The Truman Show on it gets my like. :-) Stardust is criminally underrated, nobody talks about that movie anymore. :-P

Kevin Karst

I don't think people will ever get tired of Marvel reactions. But if you think it's not a good strategy, then I hope you'll watch some of them without reacting to them. You're really missing out if you don't, they're amazing. :-)

Kevin Karst

I'm a huge movie buff / nerd and it's so hard for me not to list like a hundred movies, but I'll just go with three very different ones, since you've received a lot of suggestions already. :-D My favourite film of all time is The Prestige, so that's a must-watch in my opinion. I usually suggest Stardust to reactors as well, it's my personal feel-good movie. I always watch it when I feel down and it makes me smile again. It's a bit similar to The Princess Bride in tone and style, although with much better effects. V for Vendetta is amazing as well, best comic book movie ever in my humble opinion. I hope you haven't seen some of those yet. :-)

Kevin Karst

Just a few slightly less common movie suggestions from me if I may: Bugsy Malone (1976) The Burbs (1989) Innerspace (1987) The Italian Job (1969) Kubo and the Two Strings (2016)

James Hadden

The series is so much better than the movie for multiple reasons. The main one being that they have longer to tell the story. I always prefer shows to movies as movies always feel rushed. Sure, some shows feel slow when they have filler episodes etc but they still have so much longer to tell the story.

OverWims

Not a movie as such (only 42 minutes long), but definitely a recommendation to everyone who enjoyed Firefly and the Buffyverse: "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" A little side project by the Whedon brothers and Maurissa Tancharoen with Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Filion (Mal of Firefly) Felicia Day (who you will see as "Violet" in this season of Buffy). It's available e.g. on YouTube (https://youtu.be/Of9kHpCv1ts?si=9Hc3V2bTaT_rWyDD) and there shouldn't even be any copyright issues for a full audio-on version (I hope)

Oliver

I haven't seen the show (yet) but I can also recommend the Terry Gilliam movie with Bruce Willis. It also struck me because it (unlike Doctor Who and many other Time Travel storylines) is coherent in itself, doesn't break any of its own rules while not using the concept of a multiverse or different timelines. Won't get more into it now because of spoilers but that makes it "classic" in more than one sense.

Oliver

I love that movie! I remember typing out the script on a typewriter when I was very young, and very nerdy 🤣

Juliette Gaming

I adored that movie!! It was a while ago and I never uploaded it to the channel, just here. I couldn't get past the copyright on youtube, sadly 😭

Juliette Gaming

Ooh that one seems good! Thank you, Nicholas 🙌

Juliette Gaming

Oooh Romy and Michelle sounds like fun!! Good era too, around the early Buffy days 💜

Juliette Gaming

I have seen that movie a couple of times but not for a while. Great suggestion, Andy! It's a classic 💜 and yes, I need to bring my little kite over there and it will probably never be seen again 🤣

Juliette Gaming

Ahh yes, I've seen that one! It was SO SCARY 😱

Juliette Gaming

I began the X Files long before the full episodes so they weren't really set up for that from the beginning. The editing would be so painful and I don't think there's really enough people wanting the full episodes to make it worthwhile for how long it would take 😭 the way I record now, I make sure to never/rarely pause!

Juliette Gaming

I've heard of Cabin in the Woods! I've always assumed it was scary, if it's the one I'm thinking of 😱

Juliette Gaming

I haven't seen any Marvel stuff but I've also seen the Marvel movies are on a lot of channels so I'm not sure if it's too saturated?

Juliette Gaming

I am not sure if I want to do more shows or movies at this point, but I'll keep Quantum Leap in mind ☺️

Juliette Gaming

Its a hard one regarding films because i dont know what u have seen and havent but would love to see you react to some more tv shows especially the original quantum leap

DUALITYOFLIFE

Kites are cool ... hope you got a chance to fly it! Paper Moon (1973) is a lesser known/reacted to movie that came to mind. It's a comedy/drama with great characters, played by Ryan O'Neil and daughter Tatum, set during the great depression -- I'm not sure how to describe it more, without spoiling it.

CraigK

If you haven’t seen Rebecca from 1940 it’s a really memorable old Hitchcock (his only Oscar win for best film) with great actors and stylish suspense. No one ever reacts to it, but I’d say it’s quite reactor friendly all the way from the ”Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again” beginning straight from Daphne du Mauriers novel. She was only in her early 30s when the film adaptation of her book was made, and wrote also some other stories that would become movies. There is a recent remake of Rebecca that should be avoided at all cost, by the way. Otherwise for example Amadeus and Fried Green Tomatoes are great and rather popular among reactors, being fun and serious and moving at the same time.

borednow

Out of the movies that have not been mentioned, my top 5 recommendations would have to be: Time Bandits (1981) Fight Club (1999) Mulholland Drive (2001) Hero (2002) The Fall (2006)

Lime Pie

Thanks, I'll check it out.

David Schmidt

I'd like to suggest the original Twilight Zone. Most episodes are 30 minutes, the stories are wonderful, and I should be able to provide most of the episodes to you so you don't have to find them on streaming. I'll message you with links to a couple of episodes so you can get a taste, and see if it's something you'd be interested in watching.

Claire Eyles

If you haven't already seen them I'm giving a big big big vote for the Marvel movies - specifically the Infinity Saga listed here: https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/The_Infinity_Saga Marvel accomplished something that had never been done before, or since, with these movies. They gave us separate movies to introduce characters (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Guardians of the Galaxy, and more), slowly weaving together an entire universe where characters could crossover into each other's movies, gradually leading to the most amazing climax imaginable with Infinity War and End Game. It's like watching a great season of TV - only each episode is a movie! And we get a Stan Lee cameo in each one! Stan was the guy who created many of these heroes, Spider-man, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and more. In the 60s he built up a comic-book universe where heroes would crossover all the time - something that hadn't been done before!

Aussie Mat

If by any chance you are willing to start another series. I highly recommend 12 Monkeys. Doctor Who, in my opinion, isn't a time travel show. It's a show that just has time travel in it. 12 Monkeys, on the other hand, is a time travel show. Paradoxes, alternate timelines, past and future versions of the same people. 12 Monkeys is the pinnacle of time travel shows and it does not get the appreciation or recognition it truly deserves. It also, unlike Doctor Who, doesn't break its own rules. Doctor who has tons of writers, tons of showrunners etc, you'll always get situations where something happens but then so many series later something completely different happens from the same cause. If you do watch it, I would also recommend watching the entire run for a second time (on your own for the second time of course) as it is one of those shows where you see everything from a completely different light once you know how the full story goes. One-off lines that you think nothing of which turn out to be pivotal plot points later on etc. It's only 4 seasons (47 episodes) and is definitely worth the watch.

OverWims

You are probably going to get a lot of movie recommendations lol. Some of my personal favourites are: In Time, Source Code, I robot, S.W.A.T. (2003), The Transporter, Next, Bad Boys, Focus, Hancock, Death Race

TDA Entertainment

A lot of good suggestions already. I'm throwing "Cabin in the Woods"(Joss Whedon flick) and "Tucker and Dale vs Evil" into the mix.

Nebraska

Being a fan of WW2 movies I would love to see some reactions to any of them but maybe make a list of movies that you already have on the burner because I'm afraid that everyone's tastes are going to be different. Really, I`m good with anything though:)

Tex N7

Another one to be careful about knowing nothing about it going in 😁

Jeremy J Nickurak

Something very few reactors have done: Stranger Than Fiction. It's very underrated, mostly because it stars Will Farrell, but it's a very non-traditional role for him. Also has Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah and Emma Thompson. Weirdly all-star cast, and it shows in the quality of it. It's a very good movie to watch with ZERO knowledge going in! ❤️

Jeremy J Nickurak

Double Doctor Who sounds amazing. Here's a list of movies to choose from: About Time Back to the Future 1-3 Bruce Almighty (And Evan Almighty after it) Catch Me If You Can Click Dark Shadows The Dark Tower Edge of Tomorrow Focus Free Guy Geostorm Going in Style Hancock Inception Jumanji 1-3 Knowing Limitless The Martian Mrs Doubtfire Night at the Museum 1-3 Now You See Me 1-2 Plane Predestination The Prestige R.I.P.D. Ready Player One Real Steel School of Rock Self/Less Source Code Stardust Tomorrowland The Truman Show If I had to choose just 1 from this list it would be The Martian.

OverWims

Two ep a week would be great

Jamie

Cabaret 1972, so you can see Joel Grey's Oscar winning performance (demon 'doc' from season 5 Buffy). Also because it's just an incredible musical and movie. Apart from that I'll think of some more suggestions, maybe some older classics you might not have considered watching?

Claire Eyles

Back to the Future (all three) The Karate Kid (the original) Dune part 1 and 2, Lord of the Rings. :)

Michael Short

I saw some cut down X-Files episodes on YouTube last year, is there any chance of seeing full length reactions?

Chris Green

I'll just toss out a couple of my favorites that I don't see a lot of reactions to: Pleasantville Stranger than Fiction

R. Chang

Comedy wise, the Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the World’s End) are a great shout if you’ve haven’t watched them, or the Monty Python films are great for some amazing British comedy. Not sure if you’ve seen them as I didn’t see it in your post, but the Star Wars saga would be a great experience to see you enjoy! Can’t wait for the movie reactions Jules! 🥳

Michael Hillyard

If you haven’t seen The Sixth Sense, I think you’d LOVE that movie!

Amanda

You're in luck! Juliette has already reacted to Arsenic and Old Lace. Search her patreon to find an edited version on here, and a link to a full version on YouTube.

Neil Hanson

Two episodes of Doctor Who a week sounds good :D in terms of movies, I'd second Hot Fuzz - can see someone else suggested it

Brian

Or how about a movie close to home....Crocodile Dundee

Andy

There's a million I could recommend, but I'll just list a few fun ones for now: Back to the Future trilogy Hot Fuzz Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Neil Hanson

You should move to the northeast of The United States. It's been windy (40 to 50 mph wind gusts and steady 25 to 30 mph winds) for three days STRAIGHT now!!!! A movie you may have already seen; Saving Private Ryan

Andy

I'd love to see two DW reactions a week if possible! Otherwise, if you're looking to add a new TV show: I'd suggest Teen Wolf (2011) TV show; it's awesome, but it does tend to be gory in areas with a few minor horror themes and jump scares (not too bad, but I'm not sure what your level of comfort would be in that respect such as dead bodies). If you know much about Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, it's sort of along those lines. Not sure what movies I could compare it to to give you more of an idea though lol. Otherwise, if you'd prefer a more light-hearted comedy/police-related TV show, I'd definitely recommend Psych. Pretty sure it's on Netflix. It's one of my favourite shows 😊 Lucifer is also a really good show. I didn't watch it for a while because it's about the devil and angels, and because I'm not religious, I wasn't interested, but I genuinely enjoyed it. Personally, I think they did a brilliant job. I don't really watch movies though aside from MARVEL which I stick between Iron Man 2008 and Endgame on re-watches, so no real help from me there 😂

Melanie

Yay 2 DWs! I've never seen anyone react to Josie and the Pussycats (2001) or Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion (1997). Both great silly comedys if your looking for light-hearted movies that aren't long. Death Becomes Her (1992) is one of my favourites but that'd be one to save for Halloween time if you've not seen. Have a great weekend.

CommodoreLezmo

Highly recommend the interview with the vampire series! Also anything by Mike Flanagan but especially midnight mass. My other all time favorite series is Battlestar Galactica (reboot). As for movies, What Dreams May Come, Lovely Bones, Too Wong Foo- Thanks for Everything, Dark City, A.I., Bicentennial Man, Meet Joe Black.

Kimberly Bellow

Hmmmm...'Pans Labyrinth' is beautiful and quite quirky, 'Children of Men' is cool and thought provoking/sad/tragic, as are 'I Am Sam' or 'Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' or 'The Truman Show.' If you're into super hero films and havent seen it, the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' trilogy is funny and full of action. For simple, silly comedy, maybe 'Meet the Parents.' For RomComs 'What Happens in Vegas' I like. If you're into musicals, I love 'Moulin Rogue,' 'Phantom of the Opera,' 'Les Miserables,' and 'The Greatest Showman' (and 'Wicked' but that might be too hard to get a copy of at the moment). I'm not a big action film fan, so no recommendations for that. Oh, except I love 'Face/Off'

x_Rhi_x

The Rush Hour movies, Short Circuit movies, Back to the Future movies, X-Files movie.

Jerry Setty (SpTigerJD1)

Juliette, I would absolutely love it if you reacted to Drive from 2011 with Ryan Gosling and Carrie Mulligan. I really, really think you’d enjoy it.

Nicholas

A wonderfully funny and quirky movie that I would like to recommend is 'Arsenic and Old Lace' starring Cary Grant. It is a black & white movie from 1944. It takes place on Halloween night in a quaint old home in Brooklyn, New York, with an amazing cast of oddball characters. No violence but a few ominous threats, very much a PG endeavour. A similarly quirky and funny movie is 'Harvey' from 1950 starring Jimmy Stewart who plays a slightly tipsy gentle soul who has a very unusual means of dealing with (or is it escaping from) the real world. There is a suggestion of the supernatural, or is there? Both are true classics of American cinema.

David Schmidt

Yesssssss 2 DW episodes per week lol (Although Angel and Buffy are amazing). Positives and Negatives 😃

Jonathan Giles

If you’ve not watched it then I’d suggest The Princess Bride

Jessica Patton
