Two-Parter Episodes
Added 2023-07-27 03:43:02 +0000 UTCHello 😸✨ I've been thinking!!
We currently have 2 x Buffy per week and 1 x Who per week. I was thinking that we can change this up a little bit, when a two-parter episode comes out. I know there is a 2-parter Who coming up next, so instead of offering 2 x Buffy for this week, I might offer 2 x Who instead to keep the two-parter episode closer together!
So the schedule would be:
Saturday 29th: Who 1x09 (pt1) (usually a Buffy episode here)
Tuesday: Buffy 3x07
Thursday: Who 1x10 (pt2)
Saturday Buffy 3x08 (back to Buffy)
Is this okay with you guys? I am also thinking of alternating weeks like I said in the last Who post, but I'd like to do up a poll for opinions and thoughts on that in another post but for now as there's a 2-partner, I wanted to let you know of the change for this week 💜
Maybe I think about things too much. I'll go back in my corner now 🤣

2023-07-28 05:39:10 +0000 UTCI think it is fine to put the two part shows for either show in the same week.

2023-07-27 22:49:58 +0000 UTCTo clarify, I did the math. Buffy has 144 episodes. Doctor Who (Revival only) has 175. So yes, Doctor Who is longer.

2023-07-27 14:16:10 +0000 UTCYes, it is good to have multiple things going on at the same time. I never said she shouldn’t. I’m saying that she should alternate between shows taking more episodes *when* she finishes them. By “power through” I meant more keep that as your focus of two and keep the *same pace* that she has been. I don’t see what the issue is here. By *my* count, you have about ten ish more episodes of Doctor Who (a *currently* on going show that will likely have *even more episodes* when she catches up*), then you have of Buffy. That’s only counting the revival’s base episodes (not counting extra side content) and *not* the classic show, which may be something to pursue later.

2023-07-27 12:49:21 +0000 UTCSwitching it up for two-parters would be preferred. Alternating weeks would be less desirable. That's my vote.

2023-07-27 08:05:33 +0000 UTCIdeally 2 episodes of both every week! Haha. But yeah i think only switching around if theres a 2 parter seems ok. of course, do what works best for you :)

2023-07-27 07:59:15 +0000 UTCWhat do you mean Buffy is shorter? I'm pretty sure the episode count is higher on Buffy. I get the feeling generally, that people who urge to "finish up X first" are just eager for one show. So statements like this sound more like "I don't care about the other one". It's _obviously_ better for the reactor to have a few things going, which leads to more people being here, whereas finishing stuff quickly leads to people leaving sooner.

2023-07-27 06:28:36 +0000 UTCI think there seems to be a pretty fair concensus on this fair proposal, for the most part. You'll never please everyone all the time. So I think you should make the choices you want to. Then ask for acceptance that as a channel evolves and fanbases broaden, that these kinds of changes are a practical approach that can reflect that.

2023-07-27 05:40:00 +0000 UTCHonestly, I'm agnostic on the decision, personally. Gauging the reactions here, though, it seems like temporarily switching things around only infrequently might be the better option. It seems to displease the fewest people. 🖖💙

2023-07-27 05:19:17 +0000 UTCYes! But I am biased towards Doctor Who as that’s what I’m here for. However, I think the temporary hit for Buffy fans won’t be too bad, as typically you only get a 2 part episode twice per series. Usually they are the finale and mid of the Series so it’s weeks before Buffy fans lose an episode, which sounds not too bad tbh.

2023-07-27 05:11:13 +0000 UTCI'm happy with whatever schedule you decide on Juliette, and I'm sure most others feel the same way.

2023-07-27 04:55:50 +0000 UTCThere is perhaps one exception, and it’s not really a spoiler, but I should say that series 9 of DW is almost all 2-parters! But that’s a long way off and you may even be winding up on Buffy by then. You may also not be aware, but occasionally there are little “minisodes” between episodes of Doctor Who - little 2 to 5 minute sketches, which may or may not have relevance. You won’t find them on Stan, but I’m sure someone can send you a YouTube link when one is coming up. Don’t try looking for them now, as even the thumbnails may be spoilery. But they are short enough to combine with a reaction to the following episode.

2023-07-27 04:24:11 +0000 UTCI thought Buffy was longer as there's more episodes per season but I guess it might actually be about the same as Buffy has less seasons. Ah! Well, that makes sense! Good thinking, 99!

2023-07-27 04:06:31 +0000 UTCCan’t be worried about pleasing everyone. Some people might not like it, some people will, and some might outright leave, but none of that is your concern. Just do what you’re comfortable with. You wouldn’t be the first to do alternating schedules or alternating numbers of posts per week. In the end the best thing to remember and save yourself from fear, anxiety, and inevitable burnout is you’re the one in control, not patrons, subscribers, or anyone else (unless there’s children in the house ... then deity of choice have mercy on your soul).

2023-07-27 04:05:51 +0000 UTCThat is good to know! Thank you! So it would still mostly be 2 x Buffy per week, with the occasional 2 x Who weeks... I just don't want to upset anyone 😔 sometimes it's hard to know what to do! I fear change 🤣

2023-07-27 04:05:34 +0000 UTCMy vote would be no to that change.

2023-07-27 04:04:55 +0000 UTCI think that’s a great idea. There are usually two 2-parters in each series of DW, spaced out, so I don’t think it would mess things up too much for the Buffy-only fans (speaking as a longtime DW fan and a newbie to Buffy, which I am really enjoying as well).

2023-07-27 04:01:48 +0000 UTCI’m happy with whatever you want! Seeing as Buffy is shorter, you could power through, and then do two a week on Who when you’ve finished.
Steve Combs
2023-07-27 04:00:01 +0000 UTCYes, I did think that there would be people unhappy with a change! It's why I wanted to check in with people first and run a poll in another post and find out 😸 Nothing is changing yet, it's just that I've been thinking! I'm happy to keep things as is, if people are unhappy with any changes but it just might make sense to have any Who two-parter episodes closer together. Would that be okay with you if it's just an infrequent change to the schedule and it's mostly 2 x Buffy per week?
