Buffy - Becoming Part 2 S2 E22 - Full Reaction

Another episode that breaks me! YAY 😭😭πŸ₯² What a rollercoaster... I have definitely realised that with Buffy, we can't really have nice things. At all. The sooner I understand that, the better it will be on my heart 🀣

A little update on my break! This is my final week of not working my usual long days and as much as I have enjoyed a little time off, I have still recorded and edited some videos as I truly love it! Good news is though that this week we will be back to two episodes of Buffy per week (Tuesday and Saturday, Aussie time) as I didn't get behind πŸ’œ

I have also started publishing two episodes per week to YouTube as I didn't want the channel to be too far behind, so hopefully that goes well!

Onwards, to season 3 and happier times? Nah, who am I kidding 🀣

Buffy - Becoming Part 2 S2 E22 - Full Reaction

Comments

25 years later and "No weapons, no friends, no hope. Take all that away and what's left?" "Me." still gives me goose bumps! And still tears at the end 😭

MacErica

I've seen a few people with this early seasons over-the-top Xander hatred. I just don't get it. If Buffy and Willows mistakes can be hand-waved away as being a result of their age and relative immaturity (as they generally and rightfully are), I think Xanders mistakes should be afforded the same grace. You can certainly question whether or not he made the right decision in withholding that information from Buffy, but to ascribe some nefarious selfish reasons for him doing so is, to me, wrong. He didn't do it so that he would be Buffy's boyfriend after she killed his rival. And he certainly didn't do it to endanger her. He quite obviously did it so that Buffy wouldn't get herself killed trying to kid glove Angel as a means of stalling for a spell that, let's face it, probably wasn't going to work. She was going into an unbelievably dangerous situation alone against Angelus, Spike, Drusilla and knows how many goons. The last thing she needed was to endanger herself by worrying about Angel's well-being in such a desperate situation. He may have been wrong but, to me, he was coming from a place of love and a genuine desire to protect Buffy. And thus he should be forgiven I think. Even if he was wrong to lie. Which he was.

Chris Peterson

Especially since two seconds after he says that he's really disrespectful toward Giles where Jenny is concerned! Angel was a skilled fighter, too - definitely projection and selfishness from Xander!

Tommy Galloway

Yup, to the Xander critique! Him accusing her of forgetting about Jenny so she can get her boyfriend back is so much projection on his part! Like, maybe he wants to wield Jenny's murder as a cudgel, so Buffy can't get her boyfriend back. Buffy, on the the other hand sees how valuable ensouled Angel is and could be to the forces of good, and how pivotal it could be in the Acathla situation if Willow could curse Angel.

this is one of those "did they really just do that?" moments in television! i mean how many teen heartthrob types had to be sacrificed violently by their TV, it-girl counterparts because their demonically possessed self decided to open up a hell portal? not many! in all seriousness, though: poor Buffy! seventeen years old and already sacrificing her first love to save the universe. an aside: this is honestly a major Xander-hating arc for me! if he'd explained to Buffy that Willow was planning to work the spell and wouldn't take no for an answer, there's always a chance she could have stalled more, or at least gone into the fight with some hope after being kicked out and expelled! i'm not saying all would be well, and it wouldn't have made for as good a scene - but it's such a selfish move from Xander to endanger Buffy by sending her into battle without all the facts; especially since it was for his own ends! it could have gotten her killed if 'souled' Angel had returned and distracted her before the henchmen were dead, or before Drusilla was unconscious! how dare he decide what she does and doesn't get to know? i also despise Xander saying "you wanna forget all about [it] so you can get your boyfriend back!" as if Buffy is childish enough to think that way, as if Buffy even has the luxury to be immature! and even if she did feel that way - she's seventeen, and really struggling, and had finally found someone she didn't need to protect or lie to in a relationship - someone who could protect her in turn. someone who made her feel normal again.. all that aside, a great video Juliette! i hope your break is/was satisfying and restful!

Tommy Galloway

Edit: Ahhh I'm sorry, I saw Doctor Who on the same page and got confuzzled 🀣 YES!! I even honestly dreamed of Buffy last night! It was super funky but I love it... It was about Angel and he had a silver suitcase... I would LOVE to know if I see a suitcase like that at some point haha

Just stopping by to say I enjoy your reactions. Happy that you are reacting to the best TV series ever. Welcome to the club of thinking about the characters in your free time as well.

Jonathan Hall

It's such an easy show to binge :) I remember back in high school a friend and I would binge the entire series in a long weekend at least once a year. :)

Neil πŸ’œπŸ’œ Honestly, I've spent weeks despising Angelus for everything he did and he was just SO slimy and creepy and so RUDE to Spike. Nope, didn't want anything to do with him at all... And then we see our beloved Angel come back, just briefly, so sweet and loving and GENTLE and kind? And then for Buffy to do what she did.... Sigh. She had to do it, there wasn't a choice. But it makes me wonder... let's say Angel did come back, and the world didn't end, could his soul get taken away again and we have to go through this AGAIN? I just don't know if it would be worth it for Buffy to continue a relationship with him... It's probably better off if she didn't. I mean, most of us have had break ups. It sucks, I know. But... I just don't know if it's worth the risk. It IS hard to say no to Angel though with his sweet little puppy dog eyes 🀣 Spike is amazing. Never thought I'd like him as much as I do but I really hope we see him again at some point and he's still kind of friends with Buffy... or at least, doesn't try to kill her πŸ˜„ Season 3 will no doubt be another rollercoaster of emotions hahaha! Thank you, Neil πŸ˜ΈπŸ’œ

Juliette Gaming

Lie to me... πŸ₯²

Juliette Gaming

Michael, thank you so much!! I'm really surprised how quickly we are watching the episodes πŸ’œ

Juliette Gaming

I've been broken a few times with Buffy, but this one was THE WORST so far 😭 no more... I can't take it!!

Juliette Gaming

I never, ever thought something so whimsically titled as Buffy The Vampire Slayer would EVER be like this 🀣😭 Yes, season 3. It will only be upwards from here. Right? RIGHT?? 😭😭😭

Juliette Gaming

This episode rips your heart out and stomps all over it! The scene between Buffy and Angel where his soul gets restored is just devastating. For a brief moment the Angel that we know and love is returned, but it's already too late and Buffy now has to kill the man she loves 😭😭😭. What makes it worse is that he doesn't seem to know what's going on, doesn't know that the world will end unless Buffy kills him. He would surely sacrifice himself if he knew, but him not understanding what's happening as Buffy ends him makes it even more heartbreaking. Joyce finally knows that Buffy is the slayer and, well, it wasn't exactly the moment of bonding that I would have hoped for. I know she was just reacting in the moment but Joyce could have handled that a lot better I feel. Especially the ultimatum of 'if you leave this house don't even think about coming back'. She couldn't physically stop Buffy from leaving so I can understand why she would say that, but those were not the right words to use, not by a long shot. And Spike! Who would've thought that Spike, of all people, would be responsible for helping to save the world? I loved that awkward moment where Joyce and Spike are just sitting in the living-room trying to make small talk! πŸ˜‚ I have to wonder what Dru will make of all this though. Spike teaming up with the slayer and helping to thwart their plan, and getting Angelus killed in the process, would be hard for her to forgive I'd imagine. This has been an excellent season of reactions from you Juliette and I can't wait to see what you make of season 3.

Neil Hanson

Remember what Giles told us at the beginning of the season: "The good-guys are stalwart and true. The bad-guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats and we always defeat them and save the day. Nobody ever dies…and everybody lives happily ever after."

Texas

This was such a great reaction, one of your best. I can't wait for you to start Season 3 :)

Michael Short

The last time I watched you be tortured by this show (in the episode Passion), we didn't even have a two part season finale. Yes, the writing in this show in incredible, but even more so when you consider much of the same creative team was behind Firefly.

Eric H

Juliette I'm so mad at you!!, This is the first time in years that I've cried watching this episode and it's all your fault. Between Buffy crying on screen and you crying watching her I just lost it myself 😭😭😭. When you started this did you ever imagine that a show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer could so thoroughly rip your heart out and tear it into little pieces like it does. I've always thought Xander did the right thing not telling Buffy that Willow was trying to do the curse again. She needed to be focused and trying to draw things out to see if it would work may have gotten her killed. Anyway on to season 3, I'm sure all the heartaches are over now😁

Stephen Knueppel

This show knows how to hurt you and how to heal you and it will rip the heart out of your chest and play amazing symphonies on it. My advise is to strap yourself down, keep your feet and hands in the car at all times and enjoy the ride.

Darrell Palmer

Sadistic sadistic writers. It is telling, though, that for as light hearted of a show as Buffy can be compared to modern, serialized, shows, that it will still connect you to the characters and subsequently ummm... well the link is above. :P

😭😭😭😭 I'd just spent the past X many episodes absolutely despising Angelus and then to see him so very briefly, the same sweet and gentle soul Buffy fell in love with, before shunting him off to Hell... Buffy getting told that she'd better not come back by her own mother, so she does just that... 😭😭😭 But how good was Spike though? We at least have that slice of happiness but oh WAIT... He's GONE TOO. We can NEVER have anything good, ever! Whose idea was it to give us such sadness 🀣πŸ₯²πŸ˜

Juliette Gaming

Nope. Didn't talk about it even once.

SweetSummit

When you started Buffy there were definitely not discussions about about how badly the backend of season 2 would break your innocent heart.
