Upon editing it for Patreon and YouTube, I've now watched it three times 😅 I have to say it gets better with every viewing! There are some great moments in this one, and I really LOVE the look that Angel gives Buffy towards the end! OH MY GOODNESS! Be still my heart 😍

I think the being older thing is a good observation. One of the formative memories I have of *how* I watch tv is my dad explaining me the makeup looked so different between Star Trek TOS and ST TNG, the answer basically being "because it's tv" lol Whenever there's any question about why something happens on a show that doesn't really make sense I feel like "because it's tv" is a perfectly acceptable response. The other reactor I was referring to was Riley. Although I subscribe or have subscribed to others and they all have their own charms I feel like she's the best at just letting the story come to her which, like yourself, is one of the things I appreciate most

Who wouldn't need a teacher like that during a difficult time in high school? But of course, he's gone 😭 I have to honestly agree with you about accepting even the silliest or campest of episodes, and I have come to know and love Buffy's cartwheeling combat style and can't see her doing it in any other way! I did wonder for the briefest moments at the very start of my Buffy journey if fighting like that was normal.... but I now love it 🤭 Thank you so much for your kind words! I really do think maybe not questioning too much about things and just accepting what it is comes down to being older. I grew up watching so much questionable television with bad special effects that it really doesn't bother me in the slightest! One of my favourite shows as a young girl was Monkey Magic and I really don't think his flying cloud looked any good compared to the latest blockbuster, but these shows have a special place in our heart and really don't need to have incredible CGI or effects. I'm interested in the characters and their stories 💜 I'd love to know the name of the other reactor you watch and enjoy! Sometimes I do check out reaction videos after I've watched an episode just to see what someone else thinks, too 🤭

2023-02-24 02:29:54 +0000 UTCA lot of folks will tell you that this is one of their least favourite episodes, and I get why. It's another Monster of the Week filler-y kind of thing and said monster is very B-movie creature feature-esque. You may have heard some folks refer to season 1 as a little bit campy and low budget and it's episodes like this one that I think earn it that reputation, for good, bad or otherwise. Personally I rather enjoy a fairly healthy dose of silliness and camp in my TV and it's at least partly for this reason that season 1 will always hold a special place in my heart, even if I'd rank other seasons above it. And like you pointed out, we get to know our characters and their relationships a little better, it was fun watching Buffy transfer the homework methodology to slaying, and let's face it Principal Flutie is an absolute gem lol. Now all of that to say that what I enjoy so much about your reactions is that you just honestly engage with what's going on onscreen despite all the silliness. One of the things I value most in a reactor is the ability to set aside the why's and wherefores and just let the show tell you what it wants to tell you and just taking it all at face value. There's one other reactor who has a similar style that I really enjoy and by earnestly reacting to an episode like this one the way you did you may have just skyrocketed yourself into a tie for first place amongst those who's reactions I enjoy the most. As always, can't wait for the next one 🙂

Falling for a hot teacher, lying about a lack of experience with women, getting jealous when a guy is talking to the girl you like. Yep, I was Xander alright! 😂 You posed a lot of hypotheticals in your outro there, I hope someone doesn't take it upon themselves to give you the answers when you put the edit up on YouTube.

In General, the thought behind trying to get the reactor to be as unspoiled as humanly possible, is to get the best kind of reaction, which helps both the reactor and reaction-viewer (good reactions make for good viewing of the reactions, i.e. popularity). For example: Plenty of 80s and 90s comedies I've seen at the cinema, I wish I hadn't seen the trailers spoiling the best scenes beforehand. Buffy's network(s) did _not_ seem to care about spoiling important stuff. Like at all.
