I think his scythe harvesting souls should be directly tied to his augments. The souls harvested fuel him and are transformed into the very plagues he spreads by his daemonic augments, taking life to allow new life to grow. He's crafted this look for himself because he sees himself as a simple farmer tending his crops. Harvesting souls, and cutting down the threats of his crop in order to grow his plagues and spread chaos throughout the universe. He's decided to keep the look of a farmhand/scarecrow as a remnant of his past, being a simply agriworld farmer before being blessed by chaos and the plagues themselves, besides he doesn't seek power or to climb through the hierarchy of the chaotic realms, all he wants is to tend the plagues and gardens, and keep all threats out with his corrupted scythe.
