If you can't even bother to read about Rand, I wonder why you bothered to read the series at all, personally.

Zyrus

I seriously don't mind because the weakest part to me about the wheel of time book series is that... I didn't care for Rand at all, and as the story progresses I just care less and less about him to the point that I never read the last two books.

For Jay regarding what Nynaeve's deal is -- she is blocked. It's not that she doesn't want to channel, it's that she can't. The times she's channeled before have almost all been an accident. Channeling is an innate ability for her, but she has no control over it. And I'd guess that part of her block right now is feeling like she has failed at her job of protecting her people. The only one of her people she had in her protection was Egwene, and she (because she trusted Liandrin) got Egwene enslaved... so yeah, her emotional turmoil is getting in the way

Hearing Jay become All In on WoT was fantastic. So many non-book readers are really excited after Season 2. I’d watch you reWoTching Season 1 and 2 as a rection. As Adam said earlier, there are not many wasted scenes in this show. It would be great to watch you pick up those hints. (maybe a pre-season 3 prep event?)

season 3 is confirmed to pretty much be a book 4 adaptation so its going to be wild. We're in for a ride.

Roman

"I didn't expect to cry at that" - same, Adam, same. That was great, thank you for doing these reactions! I managed to get through all of WoT in under a week, I'll go check out some of your other stuff now.

It's time to roll the dice!!!

The 'wrecked' look on your face at 58min mark is perfect picture of how awesome this finale was.

William Smith

This is definately the case. See Sandersons reactions too. Egwene was never this strong here, she has taken multiple character developments from other main cast, and in order to make her the hero, undermined their own writing to make it happen. You cannot touch a Sal'dam with intent to hurt, yet Rafe had to have her rescue herself so undid all that in 5 mins. Egwene shouldn't be able to do what she did and they were the ones who established that.

It'sThatPixie

One of the issues with this season is how much the writers are making Egwene into a superhero to eclipse Rand and it is undermining the strength of the other characters including taking storylines away from the main cast to bolster her own. She has always been the directors favourite character and I feel taking liberties with it. Her escaping from the A'dam was a weird choice to me. Firstly, it has already been established that she cannot touch her Sal'dam with an intent to hurt. An entire episode dedicated to it. She should not have been able to touch her and that is why she needs to be rescued. Secondly, that is not how A'dams work. You can't override one with another. I don't mind changes in story but not when they undo already established lore and bring down other characters in the process.

It'sThatPixie

Rafe has gone on record saying Egwene is his favorite character. Both finales have her getting more focus than Rand relative to the source material. I'm not dreaming that. It's one thing to reshuffle the ending of EOTW (because it WAS a mess, and changing that up for the medium made sense). This is another thing entirely.

Zyrus

It's not just about hero man, but a group being strong together. If you have followed any of the interviews/etc. you know how much he and the writers care about the source material and how important it is to him. You might not agree with how they are approaching it but stop pretending it's because Rafe hates/loves certain things and is 'stealing' things. It has no merit.

William Smith

I've read the Wheel of Time too many times to count over the years. After a while, I've gotten to the point where I refuse to read Eye of the World or the Great Hunt. I start from the point where Mat sounds the Horn of Valere, read through Dumai's Wells, then skip to the last two books. LOL. Sure, there's neat scenes along the way, but that's kind of the "Christmas & Easter Catholic" observances of the work. Remove the slog, skip the stumbly starts. Oh, Adam, the guy that you were going on about with the shredded arms and torso? That's Masema. You should recognize the name. You'll be seeing him in the future.

Yo what they did to hopper bout killed me. And I think one of my favorite moments was the way Moiraine looked weaving on that beach, that shot was beautiful and she looked so cool!

Joey (Hustlemando)

I'm on team 'Egwene stole yet another Rand moment because Rafe has a pet favorite' on this one. He wants to pretend it's an ensemble cast in his interviews, but he keeps focusing all the big beats on Egwene, and it's getting very tiring. He clearly has a thing against Rand getting actual heroic moments. I get what they were trying to do here, but he's letting his bias fuck everything up. I hope he learns from this for S3.

Zyrus

Love your guys’ reactions to this show. As a book reader myself, I appreciate seeing Adam’s excitement and rightfully high expectations paired with Jay’s growing appreciation throughout S2. Just fantastic. (Especially the rightful anger over the John Wick Moment & Adam’s tears over a certain new Hero of the Horn showing back up again!! 😭) Super excited to see the next season, really hope they continue to do the characters justice. Thank you! On to the next firehose show!

Ashley

Love this reaction! They really stepped it up this season. A few thoughts: Nynaeve is not only dealing with her block, but also a serious lack of confidence. Between the arches and her channeling getting Ryma Sedai caught by the Seanchan, she is really at a major low. Elayne healing Rand was the right choice, since we didn’t get Caemlyn and their first book meeting in season 1. Hopper dying will help unlock Perrin more for reasons. Perrin killing Geofram Bornhald will have repercussions. Egwene knows her power now. She’s set up well for her story. Season 3 is nearly done filming and will be primarily book 4. Hopefully Season 4 will be greenlit soon. You guys are the best. Your tears are delicious!

Joe Pauley

You monsters. I was going to play video games tonight but instead I firehosed all the WoT videos directly into my eyeball.

David Nance

Season three is almost finished filming! It’ll focus on book 4. A lot of the story beats from books 2 & 3 are similar and they hit on them in this season. There’s at least one big thing in book 3 that didn’t happen, wondering if it will happen in a future season. Nynaeve in the book has a block that makes her unable to channel except when angry. It goes on in the books for longer than you expect so that part’s accurate 😅 I agree it probably wasn’t the best use of her character in this episode. Overall, really enjoyed the finale and love your reaction!

Rilain Fehr

So I binge watched these reactions! It really helped me get through some anxiety I have been having recently. So thanks for that The dagger is like the ring from lord of the rings it calls to people and is like crack. It also temps to evil

Martha Preston

Season 3 will focus on book 4 and has one block left to film iirc

Cait

adam since you read the books you should watch sanderson reacting to the last episode he did a watch along also, it was interesting to see what he thought being the author of the last books

Jeremiah Sealy

Jeremiah Sealy

Rant Al’More
