Halo S1E03 Watch Along

Hey Peaches! Here we go with some more Halo, the little show that could. A lot was set up last week, does any of it pay off this week? Yes, in one major, and much needed, way. This is a good episode, with more set up for the conflicts that are fast approaching. And honestly, those conflicts can't get here fast enough.

I'm hoping/thinking that in future the chip they inserted into chief's head becomes an interface through which Cortana can then connect to his suit and leter connect to the chip thingy that goes into the back of his helmet so that then he can take her out and plug her into other things (forerunner tech, covenant ships, UNSC ships and consoles etc) like what he does in the games and that how they did it in this episode is just the segway to get there, since theres no way in Helo that they specifically highlight that chip in the back of the helmet as part of the opening title sequence for each episode and then NOT do the thing with the thing.

PSA: No, don't see Morbius in theater. Its horrid. for me 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Never played the game and I am loving the show. It's compelling and I'm here for it!

Not Halo related but is Morbius worth seeing in the theater? I have to get a babysitter to go see it and from the reviews I’m thinking it’s not worth it…

Ok I'm really starting to feel this show now that we're rounding out the cast and Cortana's here. I think it's a really well written show, and the future of humanity they've set up feels pretty believable. Halsey is a stone cold sociopath, guys, I'm not sure why it seems ambiguous to you. And Cortana is pretty damn scary. No I would NOT like an AI like that in my brain, Jay. Yeesh.

Completely agree. I thought this show would have a couple moments and then fall flat by focusing too much on generic combat, but I'm blown away by how good it actually is. They're nailing so much of the core lore and yet making a really compelling and fresh story out of the material.

Eye injury just absolutely sends me into unassisted low-Earth orbit. So as I waited out *that* scene in the newly-released episode with my hands over my own peepers (several hours before you released this video), I was thinking, "Jay hasn't been doing 🎶Looks Like I Haaaate It🎶 much recently, but WE'RE GETTIN' ONE TODAY, PEACHES! Re: Pacing... Honestly, we don't get enough good sci-fi for me to want to rush it along to action. This isn't on par with The Expanse or anything, but without The Expanse (and assuming it stays this solid) this would easily be in contention for best SF show since BSG simply for owning how creepy and ethically messy human augmentation would be.

These guys get emotional about every single thing. I don’t know how they make it through life

I gotta disagree with the "if you're not into Halo, you may not be enjoying the show".. I feel like what they're doing right now with the slow burn of it is setting up the characters and the story for the general audience. I'm not gonna lie, I teared up a bit when I first saw and heard Cortana.. I'm so glad they at least kept the original voice actress for Cortana.. I am thoroughly enjoying this show and watching it with you guys! I'm pumped that its 10 episodes with a season 2 on the way! I miss longer season shows, but maybe I'm alone in that.

"I need to talk to the director of this episode."

Had to watch that clone conversation scene twice - that was the creepiest person-talking-to-themselves sequences I have ever seen in a show, especially when you really pay attention to the last 25% of the conversation. Perhaps also because the clone isn't just cognoscente, but has the same level of intelligence as Halsey herself. And that scene where chief sees the dog in the park, and his face is like "hey, that looks like my dog when I was kid"... man, that hit all the feels for some reason. I'm really not worried about the pacing. The first 25 to 30% of a story is setup, so they're on track here. But I get what you guys are saying - for a general audience, it might seem like not enough pew-pew for Halo in 3 episodes.
