2021-02-21 04:19:11 +0000 UTCI am just losing my whole entire mind over this episode oh... my god. It was just phenomenal, quite literally some of the best horror I’ve had the pleasure of enduring. Ever. Full stop. You do such an incredible job building atmosphere, it’s baffling. I could thoroughly envision how deceptively scenic the birch forest is, and then oops oh no it’s time for Horrible Awful Uncanny Valley Elk Creature! Monsters of that brand of messed up anatomy are one of my biggest fears, so well done, I likely won’t sleep very well tonight! And the snare dogs goddamn what an amazing creation! I’m very, very glad this is an audio medium, I’m honestly not sure if I could deal with physically seeing their split and unwinding faces. And Carpenter… so much to just sift through meta-wise, but one little detail I just loved to bits was her parting sentiment to Chastity: “Been nice knowing you.” Compare that to “I think about you plenty,” it’s just as cruel a phrase. If it wasn’t for Chastity’s heel turn, I feel pretty confident Carpenter would have left her at the church to die, and I would have loved her all the more for it. She’s so wonderfully faceted, and Méabh puts so much intensity into her, I could listen to her for hours, pyromaniacal laughter and all. I’ll keep this short, but damn, every episode is such a treat. The worldbuilding and unparalleled originality continues to bowl me over, and I literally cannot wait for more of these sinister worshippers !
