Some info about SEUS PTGI, for those new around here!
Added 2019-04-01 05:02:38 +0000 UTC
Wow. First of all, thank you to all of the new patrons! There's been some buzz about SEUS PTGI lately, and I've seen some confusion out there that I'd like to clear up!
So, first of all, SEUS PTGI (short for Path Traced Global Illumination) is a shaderpack for Minecraft powered by the mod called OptiFine. It doesn't require any special hardware or an RTX card, just a modern GPU with decent horsepower! The ray tracing under the hood powering this shaderpack is software-based and unable to take advantage of RTX RT cores for acceleration. Utilizing RT cores is, for the time being, not possible with OptiFine.
I've been working on it for about a year and hope to get it stable and robust enough to release publicly soon (there are still some compatibility issues on some cards due to variations in graphics drivers and some visual artifacts). However, since I'm really pushing the limits of OptiFine's capabilities and real-time graphics in general, progress at times can be steady.
Path tracing? Ray tracing? What's the difference, and which does SEUS PTGI use? Well, put simply, ray tracing describes a process where a scene's geometry and information is queried by shooting rays and seeing how they collide with the scene. Ray tracing alone usually involves firing a single or few rays to render effects like hard shadows and reflections.
Path tracing is an application of ray tracing, where typically many rays are traced to gather more information and render more advanced lighting effects, namely Global Illumination. Instead of tracing one light path for a shadow or reflection, the goal of path tracing is to calculate the many potential paths that light can take in a scene, in any direction, with multiple bounces.
SEUS PTGI does take shortcuts in order to run at a decent frame rate, but, in essence, it indeed uses path tracing (and therefore ray tracing) to achieve lighting quality that simply isn't possible without tracing rays.
If you do decide to support the development of SEUS PTGI and want to try it out for yourself, you can find download links here on my Patreon page. Just check the posts tagged "Release Archives". Please do read the setup requirements in these posts, since SEUS PTGI is picky about how you have things set up!
If you need to report an issue or need help with something, the SEUS Discord server is the place to go!
Thank you again for all of your support!

2020-09-02 21:24:53 +0000 UTCNo, it will not. You need optifine or a shader mod and those are only available on Java Edition.

2020-04-21 02:32:19 +0000 UTCWhat is the current status on the AMD work? Currently have a AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB based computer. Yes it is in a Mac, but other shaders have worked okay, so I just want to know if feedback would even be welcome here if I chipped in? Initial Discord community experience was not too positive.

2019-09-05 20:39:12 +0000 UTCAre there *any* perspectives for usage of RTX cores from Java that simply aren't implemented in Optifine, or there is absolutely no way seen? What about Java's "native" keyword? Doesn't it allow straight up running a call in a native binary that might as well do right calls to RTX cores to then return data?

2019-06-18 15:15:49 +0000 UTCThe Glitchyness may be because your gpu is not strong enough. Because i run it on my RTX 2080 TI( You dont need a rtx card as minecraft cant utilize RT Cores) (Pateron on another acc) And It Works Perfectly Fine, And i dont think you can get a refund.

2019-05-02 15:53:12 +0000 UTCwould an Intel graphics card work?
2019-05-02 09:01:40 +0000 UTCA Nvidia GTX 1660 would probably work better since raytracing/ pathtracing is heavy on gpu usage. The 1050 wouldn't perform well and isn't supported in the latest Nvidia driver for raytracing support (A Nvidia GTX 1060 is the lowest supported card). Also you can only run two of the same cards in an SLI Config, not two different ones. Other than that the GTX 1660 if paired with an i5 6th gen or equivalent CPU and a decent amount of Ram would probably get you ~45 fps at 1080p.

2019-04-25 18:59:14 +0000 UTCDoes anybody know how to fix the green lighting that happens every few seconds or minute ? It only disappears if I change any Shader setting and apply, but after that...it happens again and it's making it super frustrating for me. I wanna PAY whoever fixes this for me! It's driving me CRAZY.......would reverting to old nVidia drivers fix this?!?! If yes, which ones...please. I tried to download drivers from February...no luck, still G R E E N !
2019-04-25 02:38:06 +0000 UTCTo remove the light in the corners of the rooms you need to turn off the dynamic lighting in the settings
2019-04-24 15:27:06 +0000 UTCHow well would it run on a rtx 2070?..
2019-04-23 05:15:50 +0000 UTCi've got some problems with the reflections being only yellow, having light in caves that shouldnt have any and no to very low lighting of torches
2019-04-22 21:50:04 +0000 UTCYeah, I'm not sure about that. Optifine is actually rewritten their mod for forge compatibility, so I think it will take a while before they release a stable version.
2019-04-22 12:57:40 +0000 UTCYou get access to downloading it as well as future fixes and updates. Strictly speaking though, if you were to cancel you would probably be able to keep your outdated version.
2019-04-22 00:57:33 +0000 UTCIf I become a patron for 1 month, I get access to shaders for 1 month?
2019-04-20 06:48:16 +0000 UTCHe really should focus support on 1.13 and 1.14, Im sure alot of people forced to play 1.12.2 just for this shader like me :P

2019-04-16 21:34:13 +0000 UTCWhy do you need to get forge? Can't you just install optifine without forge? Does installing it with forge give you more fps or something cause I think installing it with forge would decrease the FPS a bit because the game has to load more things
2019-04-15 22:48:22 +0000 UTCI too would like to know if this shader will be available for AMD cards as well.

2019-04-13 04:51:22 +0000 UTCShould work fine with 960m, you may get 30-40fps but it's hard to say. Not even Sonic Ether knows, unless he have tested with a 960m. Myself I get around 70-80fps on 2560-1440 Resulotion, 2070RTX with everything maxed except Rendering Quality, it's set on 0.5 One thing can gave huge fps boost was Rendering Quality and Render Distance. I have Render Distance set to 20, beyond that it starts to lag because game is Rendering too many blocks :P Thinking of getting myself an I9-9900k CPU :D

2019-04-12 11:13:26 +0000 UTCI was wondering the same thing. My pc isn't high end, I just have a gtx 960m. So I want to know if my pc could even run the shaders before I spend $10 for them.
2019-04-11 17:41:21 +0000 UTCQuick question, I know you said it will work on any Nvidia graphics card but I want to make Shure so will it work on a Nvidia GeForce gtx 960?

2019-04-07 16:12:11 +0000 UTCCopied and pasted to help the new guys around here: The download link is under the "Release Archives" tag. For 10 dollar tier subscribers (Gold Tier). It's called SEUS PTGI E5. You'll need to install Minecraft Forge for 1.12.2, then select the Forge game profile in your Minecraft launcher, then run it once. Then, install Optifine 1.12.2 HD U E2, and then finally after you run that once, add the SEUS PTGI E5 that you downloaded to the shaderpacks folder created by Optifine. Then it's just a matter of going into Video Settings in game and selecting the shader. -------------------- Individual guides on how to do these things are beyond the scope of this post, just search, "How to install Minecraft Forge 1.12.2" and "How to install Minecraft shaders with Optifine". Remember, Google before you ask. Google a LOT before you ask.

2019-04-06 11:13:51 +0000 UTCWhere do I report bugs? I took notes on some visual anomalies, and also discovered a strange bug that affect the game time. Two of the bugs I believe are closely related. One involves how wavy water affects blocks in front of it and the other involves how torches illuminate back blocks when you look through the top of a torch. Another involves redstone torches (not sure if it's a bug), and another involves fences and reflections.

2019-04-05 19:47:07 +0000 UTCNo, its really just that some mods hate optifine and cause it to go to one fps randomly. Personaly i use seus renewed in voltz with zero issue, just low fps cause i only got a wx5100 for a gpu (about a 1050 but more vram). An example of optifine hating mods is in kinda crazy craft, i was fine at like 45fps without iy but with kcc i was at 7 seconds per frame.
2019-04-05 01:09:23 +0000 UTCQuestion: I've downloaded SEUS Renewed from another source, but it renders the game unplayable. I have a very nice rig with an RTX 2080 GPU, an i9-9900k CPU, and 64Gb of 3000Mhz RAM. I have tried tweaking the resources and lowering the graphics settings available, but I keep ending up with 1 fps and bugged textures. As far as mods and resource packs are concerned, I use All the Mods Lite and an assortment of BDCraft 128x packs to cover the mods in the ATM pack. Are shaders something that requires vanilla Minecraft (no mods) and specially made resource packs to function properly?
