Aaliyah's self-titled record is one of the most important R&B albums of the past 20 years but I think it's a little underrated due to her passing and the fact that it wasn't available for streaming until very recently. Aaliyah's vocal performances are beautiful and angelic from end to end, many of the songs center around female empowerment, love and overcoming trauma, some of Timbaland's best production lands on here and while not intentional it was an amazing sendoff for Aaliyah. It's a shame her death quickly proceeded the album but its an amazing record that has gone on to influence countless R&B artists past and present. (PS I hope her posthumous record this year doesn't suck)

2022-03-23 00:17:35 +0000 UTCWhat's your opinion on the band "Doves"? I personally have become incredibly loving of the band and I think they deserve a bit more attention than they currently hold. "Black and White Town" and "There Goes The Fear" did blow up back when it released, but they have *so many* other good songs. Personal favorites are "M62 Song" and "Snowden" :)
