Well, most of the characters in the comic move in a 'grey scale' so no one is totally good, and no one is totally bad. All characters make mistakes and have hidden/personal reasons to do what they're doing. In the case of Ryouta, he explains more about his actions in the pages 92 - 94. Those pages are avalilable here too.
