I'm glad to see you ladies checking out this movie! One of my favorite films for sure. Titanic was really a technical marvel which is still intriguing even by today's standards. Videos that go over the technical specs and functionality of the ship are incredibly interesting, seeing all the technology of the time that went into Titanic.
This movie production really does pay proper tribute to the old ship. This film is certainly one of the greatest practical effects achievements of all time. The CGI in the film is really quite limited, as most everything you see is done with physical props. For instance, they build a nearly full-scale exterior version of Titanic (full vertical scale but slightly shortened in length) in a large water pool just to use in the filming of all these exterior scenes. They could "sink" parts of it, turn parts of it vertical, all kinds of incredible things. It would be worth checking out some behind-the-scenes footage of this production, as it's endlessly fascinating.

I watched this so many times! I rented it all the time. This and Romeo & Juliet wore my vcr out in 1996-97. Speaking of, you should watch Romeo & Juliet from 1996 too!β€ππΉ
I refuse to watch this movie again as I saw it when it came out with an ex and it brings back bad memories

Wasn't the captain at the helm when the ship sank? Wouldn't that make it helms deep? π«

Not gonna lie. I'd have tackled that old lady like a linebacker if I was there and caught her about to toss that thing. π

Many years ago while travelling across the USA, I stumbled across the Titanic museum that was on tour and was in San Francisco. Inside you are given a replica ticket from the ship with details of an actual passenger printed on it. It gives you a very personal connection to the thousands of artifacts on show. They recreate full corridors and rooms from the Titanic and also the iconic staircase. At the end of the tour you can actually touch a piece of the hull that is encased in a glass case with a small hole in the top. I also bought a tiny piece of coal that was brought up from the sea bed. A very moving tour and experience.
