Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 12-13 Full Reaction

Re:Zero Season 3 Episode 12-13 Full Reaction

Garfield is one of the strongest characters of this show as of now. He always was very strong.

Kanious

Kurgan got bit in the carotid artery and that was Garf's winning move. Now how that stops a corpse is something unexplained ^^;

First of all was a fun reaction and discussions and yeah sadly some stuff is lacking context for you guys, so the critique is absolutely understandable. Its difficult to adapt all the volumes completely without loosing informations, sadly important informations also landed on the chopping block. Others explained stuff already, so I just add a little tidbit to the Church scene. Emilia sent multiple spirits to check all of the wives and only the one with Sylphy reacted, sadly in the Anime only 1 spirit was shown, so it was indeed in the Anime cannon quite conveniently, that Emilia hit the right one first try.

Rashera Serala

You guys have no faith in poor Garf lol

Brynden

My favorite line describing regulus in the light novel is right after he crashes into the ground. -he did not hold on because he wanted to live. All that remained within him was a resentment toward the living who stood above his head. Even at this point, what drove him was hollow vanity. It was the simple thought of, “If I had been serious, you wouldn’t have stood a chance.” Perfectly describes him

One more thing I’ll say, you may also be kinda underestimating the difference between the White Whale and this encounter. For the White Whale there was Subaru, Rem, Crusch, Felix, Wilhelm, Mimi, Hetaro, Ricardo Meanwhile for this there is Subaru, Crusch (out of commission), Felix, Wilhelm, Mimi (out of commission), Hetaro, Tivey, Ricardo, Anastasia, Julius, Reinhard, Felt, 3 Stooges, Priscilla, Al, Emilia, Garfiel, Otto, Beatrice (out of commission), and the white scales (soldiers in white cloaks). Your criticisms are fine, I just wanted to explain why I personally don’t see them as a problem

Dax

Another thing is that Garf really started turning things around in his fight when he began using his magic more. He started trying to contest in strength which he just couldn’t. But he had one advantage that even Kurgan could never use, that being high affinity with magic

Dax

i was having these exact same thoughts, but i personally couldn't find a way to provide that same criticism without it sounding like a simple mean comment. so thank you for speaking on that matter, and saving me from commenting in a way which would have turned the genuine criticism into a mean comment to be potentially brushed aside. i really hope that Graham and George can take this in and genuinely absorb the criticism, as they would only improve from doing so, since that negative quality is really frustrating to hear as a viewer.

Something to know that might help with your thoughts of Garf needing more battle damage. Due to Garf’s divine protection, he has active healing so long as his feet are on the ground. That helps with his damage mitigation a lot. In addition, he did get both arms broken, but that’s not a wound you can see from the outside

Dax

I had the same opinion about some of the fights too. If you remember originally they only sent Garfield and Wilhelm to fight not only Kergan and Wills Wife, but Lust also. Which was crazy to me cause they couldnt beat them in a 2v6 the first time but ya know. Tbf tho maybe the archbishops were just overhyped, like Guese lost every 1v1 against Will or Julius. Even Emilia went toe to toe with Sirus for quite a while by herself. And the cult is facing all the royal candidates in one place so these are the strongest ppl in the country. Without surprise attacks or unknown powers, their really not that strong I guess Anyway tho I enjoyed the action and I loved every second of Regulus yapping, hes so funny to me. Its funny looking back at some earlier reactions and you guys saying that Regulus is the most sane out of the bishops and can probably be talked to lol

Wolfking

Just adding: Giving Garf the win would be spitting in his face and his acknowledgement would be hollow. He was respecting Garf as a warrior who protects his people as he did in his own life.

Niyabinghi

The level of disrespect to my boy georgeus tiger 😂😂

Basically think of Regulas as a single block pixel in a 2d game when his heart is stopped, this pixel doesn’t have properties of time affecting or changing its actions. However this pixel still takes up space in the world though. If you think of it like that, even the pixel was surround by water/ice/ground/ even air pixels it won’t crush or interact with the pixel because it has to exist to take up space. So when he lifts up water, he basically picking up something that should crush or slide around him but it can’t because he taking up the space and time isn’t a factor and it can’t adjust. Now let’s say the Regulas the Pixel can’t interact with air pixels around him either, he doesn’t need to breath so they basically bounce or adjust around him, but when he is forcing them to move by example flicking it. It would be sent flying aka all of Regulas attacks he shown with anything he interacts with. Hope this helps explain

Neo Don

also, the fact that you said " the fact that Al doesn't die imediatly against lust bothers me " made me laugh so much , i can't wait for you to see the cut content about that fight

Gaelthor

I love this show, but I'm with you on this couple battles we had in s3, I'm not an LN reader, so I don't know the extent of the cut content. I don't know if I would say it was "easy" per se, but definitely there has been more rewarding wins in the show before. Listen Re:Zero is my favorite show of all time, and I know it's not perfect, at this point I just accept that I love it for the mysteries, lore and characters, battles in this show are not the main thing and that's fine by me. There's no perfect story or show.

Great reaction as Always! It's a joy to see how you guys are invested in the story :) For episode 12: I can understand that the writing for how Subaru deducted Regulus' ability can seem sloppy, but the anime did cut out a bit of the explanation. It's basically because the names of the Arcbishops are tied (in part ) to some of their abilities, and those names come from names of Earth's actual stars or star cluster... It just so happens that Subaru was an astronomy enthusiast because he's himself names after a (real) star cluster of our world. The mecanics of Regulus are a bit wonky in terms of physics, whet you have to understand is that to stop his own time he has to stop his heart, but he cannot do it for long . So he works around that limitation by afixing a "representation" or "stand-in" of his heart to the heart of his wives.Subaru understood that the Wives had to have something to do with his weakness because his name literally means "Little king" and what is a king without his "Kingdoms" and his " Subjects". By affixing his own hearts to theirs, his own heart "mimicks" the beat , even tho it's technically stopped. If you want to learn more about that , the videos of Echidnut ( starting with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V39_1PWS3so&ab_channel=Echidnut ) are a great way to expand on it. For episode 13 : Let me start by saying this : Garf DID kill Kurgan but there was 2 reasons he was able to : First, Garf didn't do so good in the earlier fight and even most of the season because he was traumatized and had an inferiority complex. You have to understand that Garf was just a kid , and a sheltered one at that , when he killed Elsa (which was his first kill). It can feel strange to see a character of an anime having this kinds of feelings but He was feeling guilty and therefore hesitated a lot and wasn't as ferocious or decisive as he could have been most of the season. Adding to that , he had a big inferiority complex because he technically beat Elsa by chance and would have died if Elsa hadn't been distracted by Meili during their fight. On top of that , he lost even more confidence in himself when Reinhard effortlessly stopped his attack in 3x1 ( even tho comparing yourself to Rein in this universe is pretty stupid). That's also why he hesitated a lot and didn't kill the demi beast , because they once were humans. When he finally got over his trauma, it was only because if he hadn't killed the demi beast, then innocents , including his half siblings would have been killed. After that , he was at his full strength, which is why Kurgan acknoledged him.On top of that he wasn't as battered and injured from the early part of the fight as you might think because Garf has a divine protection named the divine protection of the Earth Spirit, making him able to earth bend without expanding mana, and allowing him to recover from injuries and regenerating his stamina faster as long as he has his two feet on solid ground. So while he is injured , he is not as much as you think and he has most of his stamina. Second , while he is regarded as a legendary fighter,Kurgan wasn't at full strenght. All reanimated corpse are not as strong as they were when they were alive. It's not even a matter of being nerfed compared to the moment of their peak strength, but they are nerfed compared to the strength they had at the time of their death, meaning they are nerfed , compared to their "elderly" self if they died at a relatively late stage of their life. Kurgan was already into his late adulthood when Wilhelm was a teenager and he died roughly a decade before the start of the story. In the same way , Theresia is nerfed compared to the moment when she had already lost the blessing of the Sword Saint and was already aging which is the reason why Wilhelm wasn't litterally obliterated despite being way past his prime. For how Garf defeated him , even tho the sequence was amazing, the anime wasn't really that explicative. Basically , Gard occupied his arms with earth pillars then ripped part of this throat with his teeths. The result his barely seen in the anime but you can see a hole on the left side of his neck at 1:11:24 of your video. But overhaul i agree with you guys , the writing is a bit weaker than previously and the stakes are not as high as you might have thought previously, with almost no consequences ( aside from a f ton of civilians lol). Some of it can be explained by Subaru's tactical mind of putting each enemies against people perfectly suited against them and a lot of chance. Arc 5 ( the arc spanning all of season 3 ) is for me the weakest in terms of writing, including future arcs. Keep up the good work, and here's to hoping you delve more into the side content of re:zero after you finish the season! Cheers! :)

Gaelthor

Plus with his ability active all the time he couldn’t feel anything

Neo Don

Kurgan didn’t give garf the win. He acknowledged his strength and his love from the people, and fought him like an equal. My glorious king Gorgeous Tiger is just that strong

Crimson Knight

About Regulus, I just assumed that his abilities to attack and pick the water were just generic magic, unrelated to his invincibility.

Brynden

Regulus' authority and how Subaru understood it was not explained in detail in the anime. I agree you shouldn't need cut content, but there's no world in which such a dense novel doesn't get some (S1 skipped entire volumes). I'm not really sure how you think this was surmounted "quite easily". This is the strongest lineup on our side. The white whale situation is completely different in every way including Subaru, whereas here we have all the royal crown candidates present. Didn't hear these opinions before so you're in the minority, but differing opinions are totally fair. But, you're also being bothered by your own assumptions before we see the result, and sometimes you get easily entrenched in that false assumption and treat it as fact and build other criticism on top. That's one constructive criticism of mine (you also did it repeatedly in S2 especially with Echidna, and there's a few here including a big one I can't point to to avoid giving away hints).

homal

Regulus hates the very idea of any sexual connection, deeming it as a mere instincts which he is above by his own definition. He is a collectioner of sorts, and his viwes are his rare coins. So yes, he never touched them in THAT way too, this is the reason they still thought that they had some part of them not destroyed.
