That rubber looked like vulcanite.

The tape might be a friction tape or some other natural adhesive and cloth tape. I use it to add extra grip to my sculpting tools by winding it around many times(ending up with about an extra 1/16" plus material on the tool), after a using it a while it becomes this sort of smooth, almost polished cohesive mass that feels slightly resiny while also having some slight give if you apply force with something else that's hard.

Who in the hell would design a motor with the AC attachments exposed the way they are??? Excellent resto and great commenting... 10/10

This is what you (didn't know you) wanted for a plug: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3x-Switchcraft-420-1-4-Phone-Plug-Male-Audio-Connector-PJ-047B-M642-1-1-/141619020406 No soldering - it's assembled with screws. :)

The openings are probably just for assembly purposes.

Somehow this sphere keeps reminding me of that interrogation/torture device in Star Wars, when Princess Leia is held captive by Darth Vader in the Death Star.

Haven't even watched it and already giving this a like. #giggles

Alaskan Rock Vodka

Very well expired, haha.

The rubber is indeed natural rubber. Synthetics were only introduced in the 30's and they weren't any better. You would expect a useful life of 10-15 years so I think those are well expired!

I must know!

Dad's a retired analytical chemist who used to run a ICP (its a plasma cutter... but Soooo much better) Mass spectrometer. Next time I see him I'll ask about how one would go about sorting out what grease is what. Mass Spec would work but I bet other easier and cheaper options exist. I am a curious bastard like that my self and would use the shit out of a mass spec if I had one...

Clifton Ballad

Thanks! It feels better doing the narration as I can explain why I chose to do something.

Great job as always! I really appreciate the narrated videos that provide a little more history/details!
