It will take few more episodes for the new OP, but, unless you like metal music, you should really savor this one until that happens.

2025-02-08 15:13:24 +0000 UTCSince nobody else mentioned it yet, the reason why Light didn't schedule deaths ahead of time is because L already knows Kira can do that. The task force is looking at new criminals whose names were only broadcast after Light was confined. Light had to do the potato chip trick while he was being watched in his room, and here new criminals have (how hasn't been revealed yet) now been killed after two weeks of Light's imprisonment.

Something to keep in mind though, there is no way Ryuk would actually help Light. In your final thoughts you mentioned that maybe Lights Shinigami is writing names for him, however the first several episodes set up Ryuk to be an indifferent being who does not really care about what's going on, he's literally just killing time to avoid boredom. Hell, he even gives information about the Death Note at severely inopportune times to Light just to spice things up (think back to when he drops the fact that if anybody touches Lights Death Note they will be able to see Ryuk when Lights sister asks for help with her homework). Ryuk simply doesn't work like that. An argument could be made for Rem doing it, however from what we can tell about Rem is he would only assist Light in keeping Misa alive not to mention Rem has already agreed to Light about offing L. I find it hard to believe Rem would decide to help Light while Misa is imprisoned, Light could not guarantee her safety. I am super excited to continue this journey with you, Death Note is an anime that I feel even avid anime haters can and should enjoy at least once in their life times. It is truly peak fiction.

He forgets the Death Note itself, Ryuk and all memories of using it, so he forgets that he is Kira. He still remembers L and his reasons for being where he is because they are circumstances only secondarily related to the Notebook: he met L when he was brought in to help with the investigation and he has been a suspect all along but, as L has no knowledge of the Death Note, nothing in his relationship with L and the task force is directly related to the Death Note. The Death Note has never even been mentioned in any of his conversations with the task force so there's no memory there to erase. You could rewrite the story with a different person as Kira and the scenes between Light and L or any member of the task force can remain exactly the same, minus the inner dialogues, and there would be no contradiction in them. If there are any blank spots, you can take it from someone who suffered brain damage from an accident and lost memories of more than half his life that the human mind is very good at inventing details to fill in gaps in order to make a narritive sensible. It's kind of a defensive mechanism against insanity, I think.

I want to go into detail about it sooooo badly, but I can't do it yet. But man, Rem...what an absolutely unique(ly terrible) character. Also, L asking himself "I am a pervert?" is more so questioning why she is saying such things now and in such a believable way. It's not him actually thinking that he is one because....dear lord, could you even imagine?😅Noooooooo Lastly, I think it's funny that officially L's social stat is extremely low. It's basically the only thing in which he is way worse in comparison to Light but...watching the show he does pretty often showcase insane understanding of people and manipulation tactics. The show & manga both contradict these official stats because just because he acts socially awkward doesn't mean that he doesn't understand how other people feel & act. But that's not the only issue with these so-called official stats we got through databooks... According to these stats Light is supposedly smarter in comparison to L which basically is impossible because the mangaka himself said (paraphrasing this) "If L wasn't smarter than Light we wouldn't have a story." So, it's a contradiction...in short, these so-called official stats are nonsense.😅
